Book Haven - Saturday - 09/27

As much as Fiyero was glad to be himself again ... he half-missed the feminine perks, as it were.

And maybe he was flipping through a girly magazine at the counter of the bookstore today. So sue him!

Besides, maybe he could find something he'd be able to cook.

He shrugged.

"For all I know, it might have been the goldfish's trickery or my own magic playing games. It's... it's not really clear.

"I just hope you don't mind."

He looked over at Fiyero.

"I-- they aren't mine. They're yours."

Something within him thrilled at those words, the sense of belonging they brought. He was Fiyero's, claimed. As much as the words had, in a sense, already been spoken, hearing them put so plainly put a smile on his face.

"If you think I'm worthy of them," he said with a hopeful expression.

He hated the counter for the moment, just because he wanted to go around it to hug his father.

And tell him--

"Thank you," he said after a moment.

"I've... if only recently, I've tried to make you proud. Since I knew."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, because I'm sure you would have been proud of me when the soldiers tied me in a sack and left me in the barn while they stole your family.

Elphaba wasn't.

"I've tried," he said gently, leaning into the embrace nonetheless.

But... but he had Shell. He had what he'd said to Shell, what he'd done. That was something, wasn't it? Much more important than the mistakes of a child!

He looked up at his father and gave him a squeeze.

"And you?" because the moment would be broken and better he did it.

"What have you been up to? What did you do being female and all?"

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Days," he pointed out.

"I was a kitten when he was a beaver. Just about the same days too, I believe."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
"I always enjoy being a kitten," he said with a grin.

"I've thought of figuring out a way to do it on purpose."

His face flushed.

"I should say."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
He blinked and looked at his father with nothing but shock on his features.

"You had magic?"

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
"I would have said the same, did for ages, until I was somewhat forced to admit it," he said with a shrug.

"I don't think I ever did anything that interested, er, her. So I suppose it came late."

Or he hadn't been thinking enough to use it.

"She didn't exactly tell me I was hers," he pointed out quietly. "And before I had things presented rather blatantly before me to prove it, it was much easier to believe I was simply uninteresting than try to figure out why she might not care even if--"

And he waved a hand, as if to cover the rest of it. Mostly because he didn't want to.
