The Park, Saturday Afternoon

The day was gorgeous - sunny and crisp and cool, but not so cool that people would need coats or sweaters. There were some discrete space heaters set up for those who had chosen not to wear sleeves with their formalwear.

A light breeze was there to lift hair that wasn't pinned or sprayed into position. Birds sang. Chairs were set up, divided by a long center aisle. There was even a small section towards the front with little piles of nuts and bottles of rum - Vala and Barney had both done radio at one time or another, plus it just made sense to make nice to the squirrels.

The wedding party had yet to take their places, so the atmosphere was open and relaxed, if a bit anticipatory.

"She is prettiest," Roy agreed casually, steering them towards that side of the chairs.

"I don't generally appreciate grooms," he agreed as he took his seat.

"No," he shook his head. "It really isn't."

Aly chuckled. "I think it's a matter or appreciating beauty everywhere."

"I appreciate the beauty of women everywhere," Roy said importantly. "I think that's what matters."

She raised an eyebrow. "Uh huh."

"That's not the question at all," Aly said, looking amused.

"Then what is the question?" he asked, playing dumb.

"Your appreciation of beauty," she teased.

He raised an eyebrow. "And what is wrong with my appreciation?" he asked, not feeling like he needed to remind her that he thought her beautiful.

"It's varied and wide," she said.

"And that's a bad thing?" he asked, leaning back in his chair while he very openly took his time to look her up and down.

"Only if you think wide applies to me," she laughed.

"Maybe wider," he teased, reaching up to brush the back of her neck soothingly.

She wrinkled her nose at him and smacked his hand down.

Roy laughed softly and leaned closer, lowering his voice so only she could hear and probably because he knew exactly what the tone was capable of. "You're the most beautiful woman here," he murmured.

"Of course I am," she smirked, leaning to kiss his cheek.

"And very modest," he smiled and brushed his gloves finger over the back of her neck again.

"Very, very modest," she murmured, catching her breath.

"I'm glad we agree," he said easily, smirking as he saw her reaction and he stroked the side of her neck gently.
