The Park, Saturday Afternoon

The day was gorgeous - sunny and crisp and cool, but not so cool that people would need coats or sweaters. There were some discrete space heaters set up for those who had chosen not to wear sleeves with their formalwear.

A light breeze was there to lift hair that wasn't pinned or sprayed into position. Birds sang. Chairs were set up, divided by a long center aisle. There was even a small section towards the front with little piles of nuts and bottles of rum - Vala and Barney had both done radio at one time or another, plus it just made sense to make nice to the squirrels.

The wedding party had yet to take their places, so the atmosphere was open and relaxed, if a bit anticipatory.

"...did you fund their wedding?" Pepper asked, because that was the second most likely explanation.

"No. I just got an invitation and felt it would be good to socialize. You know, like a normal person."

"Why would they invite people they don't know?" Pepper wondered.

"Maybe they're a very loving couple," Tony replied. "I don't know."

"Or maybe the island's so tiny that it actually saved paper to just invite everyone," Pepper said dryly.

"Oh, lighten up, Miss Potts. You'll have more fun if you have a drink or five."

"Or just one," she said, eyeing him. "You're not getting me drunk."

Tony frowned right back at her. "Fine. I promise I won't try to get you to drink too much."

"Thank you, Mr. Stark." Pepper mentally prepared herself in case he decided to overindulge and she had to help him home.
