The Park, Saturday Evening

The ceremony had been beautiful. And the evening was only getting started. The guests were ushered into the large tent that had been erected (hee) in the park earlier in the day. The caterers had delivered and set up food and enough free alcohol to drink the entire town into a coma.

Of course, there was a special area reserved for the squirrels with dessert nuts and high-quality rum to keep Vala and Barney's smallest guests happy while they took their notes and danced the night away.

Pleased workers did a last check of the tables and cigar centerpieces before the guests and the wedding party arrived. The wedding reception was set to go exactly as planned.

Biff walked over to Barney, clutching a piece of paper in his hand. "Um," he said eloquently.

Barney was standing by the entrance, waiting for Vala to join him in greeting their guests. He accepted the note from Biff with a questioning eye. "What's this?"

"It's from Vala," Biff said.

"Okay," Barney said, dragging out the word while he unfolded the letter. "My Dearest, Most Darling Barney,

I should have told you earlier, before we went through with such a beautiful ceremony and joined our lives together for all of eternity. Despite your wonderful sense of humor, your extreme thoughtfulness and generosity, and your exceptional skill in and out of bed, I can't go through with our marriage.

You deserve so much better.

I'm sorry that I can't be the one to give it to you.

Hopefully you'll be able to forgive me someday,

Barney blinked up at Biff. "No es posible!"

"She didn't mention how good I was at the ceremony?" Biff asked, craning to read the note.

Barney hid his face from view and screeched, "I can't believe she left me!"

Biff reached out a cautious hand for Barney's shoulder. "It's okay," he soothed. "You had her sign that pre-nup, right?"

Biff handed Barney his flask. "Here," he said. "I'll go get a bridesmaid to make you feel better."

Just not the redhead. Biff was totally calling dibs.
