The Park, Saturday Evening

The ceremony had been beautiful. And the evening was only getting started. The guests were ushered into the large tent that had been erected (hee) in the park earlier in the day. The caterers had delivered and set up food and enough free alcohol to drink the entire town into a coma.

Of course, there was a special area reserved for the squirrels with dessert nuts and high-quality rum to keep Vala and Barney's smallest guests happy while they took their notes and danced the night away.

Pleased workers did a last check of the tables and cigar centerpieces before the guests and the wedding party arrived. The wedding reception was set to go exactly as planned.

There was a table near the entrance where guests were invited to leave their expensive and beautifully wrapped gifts.

There was a large, lavishly wrapped box that said To: Barney and That Woman and was not signed.

The box smelled horrible, and seemed to be hissing. There was also a low ticking sound, when you got close to it, and greenish-black smoke drifting upwards from the cracks. There also seemed to be spikes around the edges.

It was possibly not a very good idea to open this one.

Robin left an elegantly-wrapped (http://www.romanticgifts.com/fasugiset.html) gift, with a card that read "To the happy couple, from Robin and Benton."

Plus a smaller, discreetly wrapped package (http://www.amazon.com/Divorce-Organizer-Planner-Brette-McWhorter/dp/0071429611/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1225579962&sr=1-1), and the card simply read "To Barney, for the inevitable."

Right next to the four-tiered, scotch-drenched wedding cake was a huge bar complete with NPC bartender who could not begin to care how old anyone was.

"Scotch," Barney ordered, leaning his back against the bar and looking the room over. Weddings were the best places to be dumped. Hot women in formal wear everywhere.

Of course, the sensible thing to do when surrounded by professors was to... yes, that's right, hit the bar and drink in front of them!

To be fair, he also had a heaping plate from the buffet, and much more of THAT was going into his mouth than the scotch was.

There was a wedding reception going on in the park.

Of course Daisy was going to check it out and crash it a bit, despite knowing all of, what, maybe six people in town so far? It would be a good way to meet more, although she figured it would be a bit harder to be conspicuous about the matter here than in London.

Either way, there were drinks!

After guests made their way through the buffet of delicious foods, they could their way to the wonderfully convenient tables and chairs set up all around the dance floor.
