The Park, Saturday Evening

The ceremony had been beautiful. And the evening was only getting started. The guests were ushered into the large tent that had been erected (hee) in the park earlier in the day. The caterers had delivered and set up food and enough free alcohol to drink the entire town into a coma.

Of course, there was a special area reserved for the squirrels with dessert nuts and high-quality rum to keep Vala and Barney's smallest guests happy while they took their notes and danced the night away.

Pleased workers did a last check of the tables and cigar centerpieces before the guests and the wedding party arrived. The wedding reception was set to go exactly as planned.

"I should like to think I have more sense than that," Eliza smiled.

"Which only makes me want to try harder," He admitted.

"Do you enjoy impossible tasks?" Eliza laughed. "Pray, do not allow me to deny any such pleasure you might receive from that. Amuse yourself however you like."

"Doesn't everyone?" Tony asked, gesturing broadly with the champagne flute. "Does that mean a yes to dinner?"

"No," she laughed. "But that was certainly a good try."

"You wound me, Miss Bennet."

"I hope you shall recover, then," she smiled. "Live, and pursue another virtuous young lady another day."

"But my heart isn't as strong as it used to be," He replied, giving her puppy eyes. "Are you really so cruel?"

"I'm terribly cruel," she confessed. "As are all virtuous ladies who refuse to succumb to the charms of young gentlemen. We are cruel, heartless, and insensitive towards your needs. And yet here I stand, unmoved."

"Even an innocent meeting? We can even have a chaperon if you don't trust your virtue with me."

"I didn't think you were interested in innocent meetings," Eliza laughed. "I need no chaperone, as I assure you, my virtue is in no danger. Are you suggesting we have tea and discuss the weather?"

"If that's what the lady would like," He said easily.

Eliza considered the matter, sure there was a catch somewhere that she did not see.

"Where and when?" she asked finally.

"Again, I leave that in the lady's more than capable hands," He said, not smirking at all as he bowed his head in deference to her judgment.

Still mulling it over. But tea was tea, and there was nothing improper about that.

"I teach on Thursday," she said. "Afterwards, say mid-afternoon, we could have tea at the Perk. I expect it to be very proper and thoroughly boring, you realize."

"But you said it yourself, Miss Bennet," Tony replied. "I make my own fun."

"Very well, then. How is Thursday for you?" she asked. Amused, despite herself. He was charming.

"Thursday would be perfect," Tony said, offering his hand once more.

She extended her own hand, placing it in his. "Thursday," she laughed. "For you to attempt unsuccessfully to woo me."

Kissing her hand again, Tony just smirked. "Of course, Miss Bennet."
