The Park, Saturday Evening

The ceremony had been beautiful. And the evening was only getting started. The guests were ushered into the large tent that had been erected (hee) in the park earlier in the day. The caterers had delivered and set up food and enough free alcohol to drink the entire town into a coma.

Of course, there was a special area reserved for the squirrels with dessert nuts and high-quality rum to keep Vala and Barney's smallest guests happy while they took their notes and danced the night away.

Pleased workers did a last check of the tables and cigar centerpieces before the guests and the wedding party arrived. The wedding reception was set to go exactly as planned.

"I'm a bridesmaid," she said brightly. "I was asked on Tuesday, and I agreed. I was clearly out of my wits. In my defense, I had no idea that the dress would be so ... modern, nor that the wedding itself would fail to happen. Although I suppose it did happen, just not successfully."

She was quite nearly done with her champagne.

Ronon laughed, "Sounds like I missed an event. 'Course, the dress isn't bad." But then, he was dressed in leather pants and a soft shirt tied with leather strings.

"It's a lovely dress," she admitted. "One that makes me feel as though I'm walking around in my undergarments."

Once again, Miss Bennet was going to close her eyes and attempt to remind herself to be civil, and pleasant, and not to make this day any worse than it already was.

She smiled as she opened her eyes. "I beg your pardon. I should not have introduced that topic of conversation; it was thoughtless of me. Might we find something more pleasant to discuss?"

"I haven't given much lately," she admitted, taking another sip of her champagne. "My students have been well-behaved, if quiet. Perhaps they were concerned that I should tell their parents what they have been up to."

"You get a lot of parents last weekend?" Ronon asked. "Like these kids aren't weird enough."

"Only two," she said. "And neither were parents, they were both business associates of some variety. I don't typically expect students to have business associates, I should say. And yourself?"
