Coyote Medicine, Wednesday

All that herb smoking yesterday had left Coyote with a lovely hacking cough, so he'd spent most of the night in the sweatlodge to re-purify himself.

So, now he was dehydrated and had a slight cough.

"It usually doesn't," Coyote acknowledged. "So how'd you get your spirit stuff?"

Ichigo hesitated. "From a spirit," he said finally, deciding that maybe it was okay because he was already seeing it anyway. "It's not something I like to advertise."

Coyote shifted back into human form, mostly because he got the feeling that despite his "spirit stuff", Ichigo would be more comfortable with that.

"You're not proud of your gift?"

"I am," Ichigo protested instantly. "It's important to me, but not everyone should know about it. "The things I've seen are part of the afterlife and people shouldn't normally know about that."

Coyote nodded slowly. "I think I understand. My brother's kind of a dick, and that would just depress people."

Now Ichigo wasn't sure he understood. "Your brother?"

"He guards the Underworld. No fun, whatsoever."

It was slowly starting to dawn on Ichigo exactly what Coyote meant with spirit. "Soul Society's kind of depressing too, depending on where you end up."

Coyote nodded. "Death's like that."

Ichigo let out a breath and it was strange to talk about this to anyone who wasn't Chad. "Yeah, I suppose. So why are you here? In Fandom."

Coyote shrugged. "Been in the Spirit World for a long time. Then I gave my medicine to a man who needed it, had the Final Coup, got my name back into the stories, and had nothing better to do. You know there's cars that talk? And know where they are! And women who will have sex with you on the phone!"

Somehow that last part was the only thing that stuck as Ichigo's cheeks turned brightly red. "Don't tell me that! I'm a minor!"

"A minor what?"

"Of age! You're an adult, you shouldn't talk to me about... That stuff!" Ichigo protested. Because he was a prude.

Coyote just looked confused. "About what, sex? What's wrong, you don't like girls?"

"I like girls!" Ichigo instantly defended. He was still just a prude. "Just... That's private!"

"Ah," Coyote said knowingly. "The girls don't like you. I have a powder for that."

"The girls like me just fine! I have a g-" He snapped his mouth shut and he wasn't going to call Ino that. "Shut up!"

"You've never had sex, have you." It wasn't a question. "You don't know how to please a woman." Coyote gave him a slightly pitying look. "It's easy. Just find a place on her body and live there."

"I am not liste-" Ichigo broke off and stared at Coyote. "What the hell does that mean?"

Coyote smiled enigmatically. "Try it. You'll figure it out."

He highly doubted it and now he was curious and... Dammit.

"So what do I need to do next week?"

"Show up, have a sweat, and either give people advice on spirit stuff or sell them useless junk."

"Useless junk it is," Ichigo mumbled, glancing around the store. "Okay, I can do that."

Coyote gave him a measuring look. ". . . I'll leave you a list of what stuff is actually useless."

He couldn't have this guy selling an ancient arrow bundle like it was Manhattan or something, after all.
