Penelope was at work sans scarf. What Master Skywalker said to her yesterday in class touched her and that bit of wisdom kept her insecurities at bay. At least for now.

And it was just easier to drink beer without a straw. Mmm, beer.

It was KISS night. The band was singing something about a Dr. Love. Penelope had no idea.

Where alcohol will be served. Unless you don't want any. But if you don't want any, then why are you at a bar?

Pepper had yet to really manage to get out anywhere socially, and luckily, Wednesday night actually proved to be fairly clear.

So, she settled onto a barstool, engrossed in reading her Blackberry as she waited.

"Good evening," Penelope said quietly, in case the woman was too engrossed in her phone to pay attention to her.

"Helloooo," Pepper said, smiling as she looked up. The smile became a touch fixed when she spotted the whole...nose thing. Oh, that was unfortunate. Poor thing. "How are you tonight?"

Penelope blinked. The whole nose thing never failed to cause her heart to kick in an extra beat or two, even though she was very used to certain stares. "I'm very well, thank you. May I get you anything?"

"Dry martini, please?" she requested, smiling as kindly as she knew how. "With extra olives. Um, is it always so quiet in here?"

Tino was already preparing the drink when Penelope glanced over. She only had to pay attention to him to see how he made the lady's drink. Smiling gratefully, she accepted it from him and set it before her, on a bar napkin. "Usually on Wednesday's, it is. But I've worked before when it's very busy, so I suppose that depends on the Wednesday one happens to come in."

A slight pause.

"I'm Penelope Wilhern."

"Pepper Potts," she said, smiling gratefully as she took the drink. "I'm brand new to the town, though I visited a few weeks ago."

"Welcome, Ms. Potts," she said respectfully. "You enjoyed it here when you visited then?"

"...I suppose," she said thoughtfully. "I work for Tony Stark, and he asked me to move here."

"Tony Stark," she mused thoughtfully. "Ah, yes. I met him my first evening here at work. He was very..." not very sociable. At all. "...he did enjoy his scotch."

"He does that," Pepper said, wryly. "If he hit on you or was...anti-social, I apologize."

Penelope looked mildly shocked. "He... didn't hit on me, no. I take it he is known for both?"

"Very much so," Pepper said, sighing a bit. "Or at least he used to be. He's gotten better."

It was her turn to smile wryly. "I don't get a lot of that, Ms. Potts. I assumed the anit-social was just a mood that evening."

"You look young enough that he probably would have had me calling the lawyers, anyway," Pepper said with a small smile. "Actually, you look a little young to be tending bar, to be honest."

Penelope thought this very amusing. "I'm sixteen, actually. Fandom tends to have its own laws considering the legal age to serve and drink alcohol. Odd, isn't it?"

"It is," Pepper said, laughing a bit. "But I'm kind of adjusting to the whole place being...odd."

"Like for instance the wee red elephants and wee blue donkeys yesterday?"

"Exactly!" Pepper exclaimed, relieved. "Oh, thank god it wasn't just me."

Penelope giggled. "It wasn't just you. They were cute as they played the piano with me during music club yesterday. But yes, oddities seem to abound here. I haven't been here long to experience much, however."

Where the drunks hang out.

Yeah, totally uninspired.
