Technically Jamie was working at Turtle and Canary today. Technically a sad-faced duplicate was working the register while Jamie and a bunch of his duplicates were playing floor hockey on the roof.

Loudly.

Apu spent most of his shift yelling at the ceiling and demanding the all come down.

"Thank you! Come again! Please feel free to chase those stupid kids off my roof!"

But you really should climb up to the roof if you really want to talk

Coyote was finally getting around to checking out this "Turtle and Canary" place he'd heard about.

But he was distracted in going in by the noise on the roof.

He shifted to raven form to fly up and watch the excitement.

Not really paying any attention to a bird, Jamie and all his dupes were very busy at the moment trying to get an old tennis ball through a set of makeshift goals.

Really it was just a mess of Jamies trying to beat up one another with hockey sticks.

The raven changed back into a man and the man perched on the edge of the roof and leaned forward, peering at the "game".

He wondered if it was some sort of sexual power ritual.

And probably at the time Coyote was wondering about sexual power rituals, one of the duplicates smashed the ball into the air and into the goal. Upon which one team of Jamies threw their arms into the air and yelled "SCORE!"

Which probably fueled the idea that this was a sex power ritual.

Of course that's also when Jamie noticed him perched on the roof. "Oh! Hi," he said wiping his brow. "Sorry, we weren't disturbing you, were we?"

Coyote shook his head. "No! I came to shop but this is much more interesting." He noticed that all of these guys looked the same. "You must have a very large family."

"Not quite," Jamie smirked and absorbed all the duplicates at once. "It's just me."

Coyote's eyes went a little wide, though he tried to hide it.

"I bet I could do that," he said.

He totally couldn't.

"Well it wouldn't be the first time I ran into someone who could," Jamie smirked. "Are you a mutant?"

Coyote sat up, looking offended. "I'm Coyote!"

Jamie just raised an eyebrow at that. "I didn't mean to offend you," he clarified. "I'm a mutant and that's how I do my schtick. When you said you could do that I just assumed you were one instead of being a Coyote."

"Not a Coyote. The only Coyote. You people don't know anything, do you."

"Hey! I know plenty of stuff!" Jamie protested. "I just don't know everything! Though I'm going to assume you're the guy from the medicine man shop I heard about on the radio."

Coyote was getting tired of this song and dance. "Guy? Guy? I'm an Indian man called Coyote running a medicine shop specializing in vision quests." He stood up to loom, but decided he wasn't big enough, yet. So he turned into a polar bear.

What? It totally worked on that scuba helmet guy in California.

Sticking his tongue out might've ruined the effect, a little. "Figure it out!"

"Oh! You're a shapeshifter," Jamie said with a nod. "You're not related to Mystique are you?"

Ever seen a polar bear facepalm?

"I'm taking that as a no," Jamie said shaking his head in disappointment. "Too bad. She's blue and kinda hot. When she's not evil."

This mortal just refused to cower in terror, didn't he. Coyote shifted back to his human shape.

"Have you heard of the Great Hare, at least? Glooscap? Wihio? Raven?"

"Are they part of the Great Lakes Avengers?" Jamie asked. "Because I'm not up on those guys."

"You've at least heard of the Cheyenne or the Sioux people, right?" Coyote knew better than to ask about the Absarokee. His poor little Children of the Large Beaked Bird, so mistranslated and misunderstood.

"Well yeah," Jamie replied. "They're Native American tribes. Have you ever heard of Thunderbird or Warpath? Big name mutant heroes where I'm from."

"Thunderbird isn't a --" Coyote sighed. White people. "I am Old Man Coyote. I am not a 'mutant hero' or a 'mistique' or whatever. I created the world. I gave you people fire and the buffalo!"

"Well that's a pretty tall claim," Jamie said tilting his head. "I'm going to need to see some sort of id or title verifying that."
