There were few days when Kaylee would rather spend her day at work trying to keep her hands and face clean rather than throwing herself full-force into playing with something.

Today was one of those days. She had a party to go to, after all.

Ben came into the shop with a mouse droid following closely behind him. "Hi!"

The droid looked like it had been dipped into blue sparkly glitter.

"He -- Oh my god, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Kaylee squealed when she saw the droid.

Ben grinned. "You like it?"

"It's sparkly," she told him.

"It's very sparkly," Ben agreed. "I'll have glitter in my carpet for weeks. It's got most of the modifications we talked about, too."

"Ben, you didn't have t'do this," she told him, almost bouncing.

"I had a lot of time on my hands," he said, blushing.

"Does it got a name yet?" she asked eagerly.

He shook his head. "I thought maybe you might want to name her?"

"...I need t'pick the perfect name," she said, chewing her lip. "What kinds of thingies does she do?"

Ben crouched down. "Go ahead and show her all your stuff," he encouraged.

Multiple arms poked out of the top of the droid. "She can pick locks, record things, and make milkshakes," Ben said, pointing to different parts.

"What's a milkshake?" she wondered.

"You haven't had a milkshake?" Ben looked vaguely scandalized. "Come on, little one, show her," he said to the droid.

A few moments later and a strawberry milkshake was being offered to Kaylee by a tiny little claw.

"It's pink!" Kaylee said, surprised as she took it.

"Only certain kinds are pink," he said, "and you kinda have to be careful with her. She picks up fruit from everywhere. Some of her combinations are kinda weird."

"I loooove fruit," she assured him. "But what kinda combinations?"

"There was one that ended up being banana and potato," he said, making a face. "I think I tweaked the programming enough that she now knows only the good fruits."

"Ew, potato," she agreed, making a face.

"We had to have a talk about the difference between vegetables and fruit," he said.

And pencils, but he wasn't going to mention that.

"I'm still learnin' a lot of them," she reassured him.

"There are lots," he agreed. "And that's just the one planet-full."

"I'm partial t'strawberries, m'self," she admitted, taking a tentative sip of the milkshake.

Her eyes went wide. "...why didn't no one tell me 'bout this 'fore now?"

"I didn't know you didn't know!" he said, trying not to flail too much.

"Y'all are fired," she declared, happily drinking the shake.

Ben wasn't familiar with that phrase. "You can fire me?"

"S'a joke, Ben," she said, smiling at him. "I'm teasin' you."

"I knew that," he said, blushing furiously.

He hadn't.

"No you didn't," she teased.

"See if I get you another milkshake," he threatened, laughing.
