Groovy Tunes, Saturday [11/15]

Hurley opened up shop, and put on a compilation of Greatest Hits of the Seventies.

Meanwhile, instead of actual work, he was fiddling with the Mouse Droid that Ben Skywalker had given him.

"Your name is now... Uhhh... Man, I have no idea what to name you," Hurley said, directing his comment to the droid."

Groovy Tunes was open.

The good news was, Jess wasn't hungry (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/3338727.html?thread=141002471#t141002471) anymore. The bad news was, he still hadn't found a place to hide where Jar Jar couldn't seem to find him. He wondered if the music in the store would keep Jar Jar away, but he'd barely gotten inside when he saw Jar Jar across the street, decided he couldn't take the chance, and ran out again

And perhaps help him name the droid.

It'd been a while since he'd been in the music shop and he grinned at the tunes currently playing.

"Nice choice, dude!"

"Heh, thanks man," Hurley said. "What's up, Mr. Murdock?"

"Eh, not much," he shrugged a bit. "Just out and about. Anything exciting with you?"

"Not really, man," Hurley said. "I was given this little robot thing. I'm trying to come up with a good name for it."

"Robot thing?"

Hurley pointed at the thing (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Image:MSE-6_btm.jpg) on the counter. "This little dude."

He cocked his head, looking at it curiously.

"Ah."

A few more studying looks.

"What the heck is it supposed to do?"

"It's like, a delivery robot," Hurley said.

"Really?" His eyes lit up. "Dude, that's cool! Whatcha gonna make it deliver?"

"Hey, I know," he waggled his eyebrows a bit. "Send flowers to your girl."

Hurley looked a little sheepish. "Don't... have a girlfriend, dude."

Ouch. Way to go, dummy.

"Oh. Sorry, man. I didn't know."

"It's okay, man," Hurley said. "The flower delivery idea is good, though. I work at the flower shop on Fridays."

"You do? I might have to stop in there some time when you're there. Been ~~handwavily~~ by once already. Sent some flowers."

Grin.

"Cool, dude," Hurley said. "I could always use the company and the sales."

"And I reckon I could always get some flowers."

Fridays, huh? That was giving him an idea...

"Looking forward to Thanksgiving?"

"Oh hey," Hurley said. "I totally forgot it was coming up. My mom's gonna call me and cry about me not coming home, I know it."

"You're not going home? Why not?"

"Plane tickets are expensive, man," Hurley said.

Blink blink.

"Or..." he leaned his elbows on the counter, "you could just ask a pilot to help you out."

"You have a plane?" Hurley said. "How did I not know that?"

"Well... no. I ain't got one. But I can get one right easy."

Just don't ask him how he did it.

"Huh. That might be nice, dude," Hurley said. "My mom would appreciate it."

"Where you gotta go?"

"Santa Monica," Hurley said. "But, uhhh, 1994."

Hrm. He had to think about that. "But if you go through the portal thingy, it takes you back to your time don't it?"

"Yeah," Hurley said. "I think that's how it works."

"So it should take you right back to 84. Er, I mean 94."

How weird to say 'back to' when he hadn't even gotten that far in his own time.

"As long as I get to my own time from there." Somehow. "Or swing back here, I'm up for it."

"I'll think about it, dude," Hurley said. "Thanks."

"Hey, no prob. Any reason to fly is good with me," he grinned.

He thought for a minute. "Know what I need? Some nice soft, slow music."

Hurley thought for a second. "Like... for dancing or what?"

"Yah. Like dancing."

And then other stuff hopefully. Not that he was going to mention that part to Hurley.

"Maybe... Burt Bacharach?" Hurley suggested.

He considered that. "Maybe. Unless you've got something that has variety on it. You know, a bit of everyone."

"Try the compilation section," Hurley said. "Look for anything with 'ballad' or 'love' in the title."

He snickered a bit. "Sure. I'll do that."

Maybe he could find something worthwhile. It was a shot.

"Let me know if you need more help," Hurley said. "You're probably a better judge of what you're looking for, here."

"Maybe," he shrugged absently as he dug through the stacks.

Perhaps some Sinatra would do it. Or even light jazz. Hm...

I'm around, but may be a wee bit slow.
