"All right people, people," he said, holding up his hands.

"Sorry about Tuesday. There was a plumbing issue. Trust me when I say you really don't want to know. If anything is, er, damp? Don't worry. It wasn't a sewage issue, but nonetheless, it's very much in hand.

"Get suited up, put on your makeup, and get on the stage. We're doing a runthrough, folks..."

Clothes, makeup, all the works.

...and you can talk, if you like.

"All right, people," he said as he took the stage, pointing to the very very crude drawings on butcher paper that'd been cut out and strapped to chairs and the wall, "this is your approximate set, and this is your dress rehearsal. Next week we do previews, if we can swing it, and then-- well, I'll get there. Let's get going."

"Okay, I have a pretty good idea of when the performances are going to be but first off: does anyone have any odd holiday issues I'm going to have to work around? I mean, thank goodness the two big ones are around the same time this year, but lemme know.

"Otherwise, we're going to do three performances: the 18th, the 19th, and the 20th, make sure we don't get into anyone's holiday plans. If anyone has any better ideas or conflicts, lemme know."

You couldn't talk in the dressing room? Yeesh.

...all right, I suppose it'll do.

Heeeeeeere's Tony! Hopefully.

He's here too. And if he's searching the theatre for leaks or wet spots, well, can you blame him?

Thanks for waiting, folks. Tuesday was kind of made of AAAAGH! and stuff. Anyway, I'm going to be putting up an ooc post in his journal in a few minutes, so stay tuned.

Incidentally, as we come towards the end of the production, I really want to thank everyone who tried out, everyone who participated, and everyone who'll be going or even thinking of going. I'm really glad people like having this strange little theatre on island and I certainly hope you all enjoy it too.

Also, thank you for my patience. Geoffrey is not the only one with an occasionally finicky muse.

Hoshi Sato

Hoshi pulled out her costume and started applying her stage make-up. Hopefully, she'd get it right.

Hoshi figured that it couldn't hurt to run through her lines from Act 5 again. While she had no problem remembering the lines, she had trouble remembering to hit her mark.

"Is the lighting bothering you?" he asked with a slight frown.

"Noooo," said Hoshi, feeling a little unsure. "I mean, the lighting looks just fine. Tony did a really good job with it. Don't you think so?"

"Tony is a miracle, yes, it no longer looks like ~~the Blair Witch Project~~ some low-budget horror movie, but, uh... I noticed..."

He pointed to the ground about two feet over from where she was.

"I think you're supposed to be here."

Ronan Nolan

"Oh! Yikes, you're right," said Hoshi, scrambling to the right spot. "Sorry! It's one thing to memorize lines, but remember where I'm supposed to be and what I'm supposed to be doing while I'm saying my lines is another story."

He nodded.

"I've been up there. Just look for something on the floor, some twist of the wood. And remember that if you can see it, you're in the wrong spot and your foot should be over it or something."

He leaned back in his chair.

"Marks aren't as important as finding your light, though."

Ronan worked through the play well enough, getting every line, hitting every mark, but there was something missing. It was obvious to Ronan as well, and as he kept going, he was visibly losing patience with himself, confidence in himself.

"You mean like finding my right place under the lights?" asked Hoshi.

Which is why Geoffrey pulled him over about three quarters of the way through. After all, he'd wanted to give the kid a chance to fix it himself, but--

"You need a breather or something?"

"That's right. The marks are just... well, it's setting the scene. It's smoothing the edges. Finding your light, though, that's important. If they can't see you, anything you try and do or say is going to get lost."

"That's right. Everyone's going to be watching me," said Hoshi, looking warily at where the audience would be sitting.

"I dunno what it is," Ronan said, shaking his head. "I've been better than this, right? I've never felt this... off... before."

He shook his head.

"Not really. People will be watching Fabrizia. Not you, so much."
