Groovy Tunes, Saturday [1/10]

Hurley opened up Groovy Tunes, and put on an album of Mannilow love songs.

After five minutes, he changed his mind and put on some Gipsy Kings.

Much better.

"Hello, Hurley," Penelope said as she entered the shop.

She blushed, slightly, and extended towards him a covered basket tied with a red ribbon. Inside were warm, freshly baked sugar cookies. "I brought you something."

"You come to visit me at work. You've seen me home safely. I feel like it's the least I can do."

"I'm glad you like them. It's the first time I've ever baked anything," she admitted.

She nodded, smiling. "Yes, I did."

It was hard not to notice his blush and she felt oddly pleased by it. "Those are all for you. I had two of them after the first and only batch I made. And I hurried here to give them to you while they were still warm."

Penelope laughed. "Shush you. It's just cookies!"

"I don't believe so," she said, thoughtfully. "But thank you for asking."

She giggled. "Yes, I assumed as much."

Penelope blinked.

A date? He was asking her on a date? A real one? Or just a thing? Was there a difference?

"I... it doesn't matter to you that I'm engaged?"

She was possibly more excited than she had a right to feel.

"Yes. Yes, I would go on a date with you."

Peneloped laughed. "You've not thought about this at all, have you?"

"But you did," she said, smiling. "And I would be happy to go wherever you would like to take me."

"I agree about Caritas," she told him. "And I would enjoy Chinese; that does sound very nice."

"I'm free any evening except for Wednesday, of course," she said, her cheeks still warm from her earlier blush.

It was hard to believe he wanted to go on a date with her. Out of everyone at this school.

"Tomorrow would be fine, Hurley," she replied, grinning.

"So tomorrow evening, I should be ready in my room and you'll stop by?"

"A fub plan, I must admit," she told him.

"I suppose I shall let you get back to work. I will see you tomorrow, Hurley." Smiling, Penelope turned and with a light bounce in her step, exited the music shop.
