Marion would have come in to work on time if she had been able to find her keys. Mutt thought it would have been funny to hide them in the fridge. The scary thing? Marion thought of looking in the fridge herself, with no hints at all from her son.

Mina sat at the bar, and gave Marion a pleasant smile. "Good evening, madam," she greeted.

"Hi!" Marion said cheerfully. "What can I get you?"

"I shall have a glass of wine," she ordered. "Red, if you please. A good vintage, if possible."

"Coming right up," Marion said. She was only gone for a few moments before coming back with a good glass of red wine. "This is one of the best we have."

"Excellent," Mina said. "I don't believe we have met. I am Mrs. Wilhelmina Harker."

"Marion Ravenwood," she said. "Nice to meet you, Mrs. Harker. Have you been in town long?"

"Almost a month," Mina said. "But I am a very private woman."

"Same," Marion said. "Well, not so much private as much as I have a son that sucks up a lot of my free time."

"And your husband does not help at all?" Mina said, making a foolish assumption. But for her time, it would be pure scandal to be a single mother.

It wasn't a common thing where Marion was from either. Luckily she wasn't too bothered about talking about it now. "Um. The father isn't around."

Well. He was. He just didn't know he was the father.

"Oh, I am sorry," Mina said. "I too am a widow."

Oops, wrong conclusion there, too.

"Yeah..." Marion massaged the back of her neck and chuckled. "I'm not a widow either."

Mina blanched slightly, then took a sip of her wine to cover it. "My apologies," she said. "I should not have jumped to any conclusions."

"It's no problem," Marion said with a chuckle. "I've only become comfortable with saying it out loud over the last few months."

"This time is more forgiving?" Mina said. It seemed a likely thing.

"Very much so," Marion said with a nod. "I'm originally from the 1930's. They weren't as accommodating there."

"Ah, a time closer to my own," Mina said. "I am from some thirty years earlier."

"Really? Wow, and I thought I had culture shock when I arrived," Marion said. "What do you do here?"

"I work at the clinic," Mina said. "While I was not a nurse in my time, I did have many of those skills, which still apply today."

"Oh. That's good. From what I've heard, things can get kind of crazy here," she said. "I'm sure the clinic needs all the help it can get."

"I have heard there may be times of calamity," Mina said. "I hope that they shall not come, despite what they say."

I blame the fact we got two new cats today. The cuteness made me forget.

OMG. How dare you forget? HOW. DARE. YOU?

Oh, wait, cats? Fine, I guess I can forgive it.

They are white and fluffy and adorable!
