The York Gallery; Wednesday [ 01/14 ] -- Exhibit Opening! 8;00 pm.

It was the first opening of the year, and so Charlotte had made sure that everything was running smoothly and perfectly for it. Big (but not gaudy!) signs and bright lights to draw attention to the place, and enough food and snacks that she'll probably be eating the leftovers (or shipping them off to the station) for at least a week if the turn-out wasn't good.

And, at the crux of it all, in an exhibit that Charlotte found very thematic for winter was Chris Larson's Deep North, in a collection of photographs, sketches, multimedia videos and one very large contraption in the very center.

Charlotte really couldn't have imagined a better exhibit.

And she was also exceedingly glad that almost all of her clothes were dry-cleaned.

The York Gallery is open!

[[ up early because it can be! OCD coming up! ]]

Angela wasn't really going to miss this, acceptable clothing or not. She had a coat to throw on over the top, and that made it just fine that all she could find was jeans and a loose t-shirt.

She was there, and currently checking out all the photographs. Just looking at them made you feel cold.

Some of the last clean clothes Tully had were nice ones, fancy that. Good thing he didn't wear them often. As it was, he was early, and as it was cold out, he ducked inside, willing to offer to help in exchange for not having to wait out in the cold.

"Hello?"

Tully was not what most people would picture as an art lover, having a blue collar look to him most of the time. But he did have a small, but growing art collection. Okay three pieces, but it had been two. So, growing.

He didn't know that he'd be trying to buy anything tonight, but the pictures were fascinating.

Daisy wasn't exactly an artsy sort of girl. In fact, art tended to bore her. She liked life and things that moved and usually things that moved very quickly accompanied with loud beats and possibly sweating, and there was usually not much of that in an art gallery. Just pictures.

And maybe people. This was the sort of thing you could go to to meet people, which was most of the reason Daisy, thankfully having a rarely worn dress that hadn't gone the way off all her other clothes lately, was there.

That, and she felt it might look good on her if she went to the thing done by her boss's girl. It was a little weird, though, that all she could think of when she looked at half the pictures (other than brrr, cold!) was that somewhere right above where they were all standing around, looking at pictures, was where her boss and his girl had sex.

(Or so she assumed, anyway).

"Hi, I'm here for the exhibition, but I'm a bit early. Is there anything I can do to help?"

"Daisy." Tully smiled when he saw her. "Fancy meeting you here."

Apparently not. "If not do you mind if I wait inside? Just by the door if you prefer, but I'd rather not stand around in the cold."

Fancy indeed. Even the hot cocoa seemed to have fancy-schmancy cups.

"Oh! Hullo! Tully, right? From the bar the other night?"

"Oh no that's okay." Tully assured her. "I can wait until you're open for that."

Cal never missed one of these things if he could help it, and he glad he could help this one. From an art perspective, he couldn't say where all this settled, but, from his perspective, he kind of liked it a lot.

"Exactly. Do you go to many art shows?" Yeah it was basically a variation on 'do you come here often', but Tully considered it a step up from it.

Daisy thought a moment on the best way to answer that, especially since she was sure having to visit a few galleries on a fraud case or two didn't count. But at least she had a few artsy friends back home that she'd stop in and see their stuff, even if they were just little galleries and the like. Then again, this was a little gallery, too. "Definitely my first one here," she decided.

"Well," he wavered. "Do you have any hot chocolate?"

"This is my first official one." he said. "I've seen plenty at markets and such, but it's much different." For one thing the refreshments weren't so high class, and usually cost extra.

"I have a few artist friend in London," Daisy offered, "so, yeah, big thing when they got even into an inky-dinky gallery. This is nice, though..."

She sounded a little doubtful on that last bit, sipping her drink before she said anything else to reveal her lack of artistic integrity.

Oh, hey, someone he kind of knew. Cal drifted over to say hi so that he didn't spend the whole evening looking at things by himself and, as a result, feeling like a loser.

An artsy loser, but still a loser.

"Hey, Angela. How's it going?"

Cal's wardrobe hadn't suffered at all; next time his mother complained about how little he did his laundry, he was going to show her.
