Amber wasn't in all that great of a mood when she came into work. She's losing socks and underthings, shirts and pants, and stupid her should have just asked Liir about helping her to wash her own stuff. And not only that, she had to sing to the bathroom stall door this morning just so she could use it. And Happy Birthday was the shortest song she knew. She had to sing it twice, dammit. Fandom was getting on her nerves.

There was nothing on sale today. NOTHING.

Deal people.

Dinah came in wearing one of her other New Gotham P.D. shirts and an old flannel shirt of Barbara's over jeans, and wandered the aisles waiting for Priestly. Checking around, she dropped a package of underwear and another one of socks into her shopping basket.

Priestly had his hair in purple, today, since two days in a row in green started to, er, wear on him after awhile.

What? He liked to change things up!

He had a yellow tshirt on today, reading "No one knows I'm a lesbian", under his green army jacket, and was wearing his nearly shredded jeans over a pair of red and black plaid pajama pants for extra insulation. The plaid could be spotted here and there, through the holes in his pants.

He smelled like Febreeze.

He grinned when he spotted Dinah. "Hey. Stock-piling during the strike, huh?"

Dinah turned pink, but grinned instead of looking away. Hey, progress. "Well, considering the encounter I had with the washing machine yesterday, and Edward threatening it before I could stop him? I figure it's smarter than thinking I'll get my underwear back any time soon." She grinned at his shirt, and wandered into the next aisle. "So, are the jeans and pajamas fashion or necessity, or did Mr. Deadpool offer extra credit for starting a fashion trend?"

"Warmth." Priestly stuck his hands into the pockets of his jacket. "It's, like, literally freezing out there."

Yeah, that was practically a whine. Poor little California boy.

"Awwww," Dinah teased, "this is just cruel of the washers and dryers when you need extra layers! Does this count as terrorist tactics yet?"

"They did decide on some very unfortunate timing," Priestly agreed. He hadn't heard about the dryers actually stealing things yet. "But that's what Febreeze is for."

Dinah leaned over and sniffed him, then felt really silly. "Sure, but now Prince Edward's either holed up in his room or still wandering around in boots, boxers, and an NGPD T-shirt. They could've at least gone easy on the people who don't know that washers require 'coin.'"

"What does them being coin operated have to do with anything?"

"He doesn't have any." Dinah rolled her eyes. "Or know how to get any. Or how to work a washer. Or what a job is... well, you get the idea. Whatever issues the washers have are totally not his fault." Prince Edward was kind of like a big, fluffy, Labrador puppy that way. "I should probably buy him another shirt so I can get mine back." She dropped a Fandom Island t-shirt into her basket too.

"Well then, he should figure out how to do his own laundry. It'd be good for him." Also, really, really funny to watch. "You sure you don't want to get him some pants, too? I mean, if he really is running around in boxers."

Annnnd there's the blush again, as Dinah stared at the racks. "Um. Maybe? I just... um." She gave Priestly a helpless look, then pointed at the shelves. "You pick? He's about your size?"

Priestly looked down at himself, then tried to picture Edward. All he could think of were giant, puffy sleeves.

"Yeah, okay." He flipped through the jeans for a minute before pulling out a fairly simple pair in dark blue. "There ya go."

"Great! Good deed done for the day!" Relieved, Dinah bopped over down the aisles, and ended up in the hair products. "Okay! Blue blue light blue dark blue shiny blue... Ooo, and I could probably use some of those clips to hold my hair out of the way, too."

"They're pretty useful. Good for bookmarks, too."

Dinah dropped a handful in her basket, then looked torn. "Okay. Now I want to buy every color there is. No, someone is not thinking of coloring her kitten to match herself. Not really.

"Hey, if you've got the money, it could be fun. You could rainbow stripe your whole head." Priestly picked up one of the tubes and looked it over. "Who's Camille?"

"My new kitten!" Dinah bounced a little, just thinking about her. "I got her last week. Her full name is Duchess Camilla Haruhi Maria-Evangelina-chan Junior. Chad named her."

"That's . . . one hell of a name." How the heck did she remember all that? "You got a kitten? Are we allowed to do that?"

Dinah put the whole box of hair-mascara colors in her basket, because hey, better to have it when she needed it than to have to come back for it.

"I knoooow! But I had to let her get a name as long as Prince Oscar Pedro Neko-chan the Fourth and Sir Galliano something Esquire. Chad's cat, and his boyfriend's cat. Chad's my roomie," Dinah attempted to clarify. "And yup! Since Chad and Teddy have had theirs for a while."

Priestly looked thoughtfully over the various hair colors. "Don't they, like, lick themselves a lot? Hair dye probably isn't a good idea." He scratched his chin. "My mom never let me have a pet. She said they were too messy."

"Oh, ugh. You're right. Not even touch-ups on her ears, then." Dinah shook her head, then looked thoughtful. "She wouldn't know if you got one here, would she? Just a little one? One that could live in your room, like a kitten?"

"Hi!" Dinah plopped her basket down on the counter, then smiled at the girl she didn't know. "Ready to check out. I think I got everything." Including a box of multi-colored hair mascara, a big Fandom Island T-shirt, a pair of guy's jeans, girl's underwear and socks, hair picks, and some kitten toys. Oh, and a bag of gummy bears. "Oh, and a Red Squishy, please. Priestly, do you want one?"
