Groovy Tunes, Wednesday

Alice had a strange sort of wanderlust as she opened Groovy Tunes today. The mood where you took what you needed, and hoped it would last, and kept it close to you as you dashed out the doorway. Something was calling for her. It was exactly this sort of mood that had led her to Wonderland, a long time ago, and Looking-Glass Land shortly after. Perhaps she needed to go adventuring, once more.

Groovy Tunes was open, and Alice was humming to herself distractedly.

Agnes walked into the store and looked around. "...Is Chad not here?" she asked.

"Oh..." Agnes turned pink from embarrassment. "I, uh, just wanted to apologize to him for missing the music club yesterday. I'll have to find him some other time, then."

She looked around the store, and came to a quick decision. "And I'd like to buy a CD player and some music," she added, firmly. She had money, now, after all, and hadn't spent it on anything much that wasn't from the Magic Box. "What would you recommend?" she asked. "I'm afraid I still don't know much about your world."

"I.. don't know," Agnes answered. "I don't really know what's out there. I... I think I'm just about done with folk music and opera. I'd like something..."

Agnes smiled weakly. "...More assertive."

Agnes returned Alice's grin. "EXACTLY," she agreed. "But perhaps not too far overboard. Sex, drugs, and Music With Rocks In, but not mayhem and murder, you know?"

"No, it's... metaphorical, I think?" Agnes answered. "Not ACTUAL rocks?" She looked at the CDs thoughtfully. "I've a considerable range," she commented. "I could sing along to anything. But... I think women probably have more interesting things to say. ESPECIALLY since most musicians are men."

She selected, at random, Jack Off Jill, and after a few moments of fumbling with the player, got it started. "Oh, my."

"But she doesn't sound like an immature brat, either," Agnes agreed. "That's sort of what I'm trying to avoid."

Who are you calling an immature brat?

"I think I like it," she declared.

Then she gave Alice an odd look. "Is there a reason Tuesdays are especially cross?" she asked.

"Sure, you know those... Tuesdays," Agnes replied, slowly. "Always jumping out at you when you least expect it."

She leaned over to look in the wastebasket as Alice left, before realizing that one of the BANDS was apparently named Garbage. Blushing furiously, she hoped the other girl hadn't seen that. Some fumbling later, Jack Off Jill was out of the player and in the "to keep" pile, and Garbage was in. She... hadn't realized music could be so angry and so freeing all at once.

"Oh, I'm quite good at yelling," Agnes assured her. "I've just never been able to do it to music before." She smiled. "I'm Agnes, by the way. Agnes Nitt, witch."

Agnes bowed majestically. "Why thank you, Your Majesty," she replied with a smile. "Are you perhaps not queen on Tuesdays?"
