Movie Sign Theater 3000, Saturday evening

How John and Jaina hadn't made it to the movie theater in all this time was a mystery, though Jaina suspected it had something to do with never once making it through a movie in his room. Still, they'd felt like being daring and were attempting it anyway. The movie was supposedly even themed for the day and everything.

"You'd rather popcorn in your lap than me now? I'm so disappointed," she said, shaking her head.

"As if you'd get scared," he scoffed.

"Fake blood spurting from stupid teenagers?" she said. "I've probably seen worse." After all, once you'd seen someone's face burned off with acid, there wasn't much that would shock you. Not that she was talking about that sort of thing on a date. Or maybe ever.

John nodded, given what he'd seen just on himself there was no fear happening for this movie. "I see you as more the crawling on my lap in fear of terrible musicals or love stories."

"And, as I recall, you were the one hiding behind his hands for that love story thing," she reminded him. She wouldn't make it through a musical, no.

"Yes, but I wouldn't fit on your lap," he pointed out.

He leaned down, "Just to talk to you?"

"There's usually some talking involved," she said, innocently of course.

"I'd have to be very close for you to hear me with the movie playing," he reasoned.

"At least I know the plot," she smiled. Had the lights even gone down yet and they were this flirty?

"It helps that I like what you have to say," she said, reaching over for some popcorn.

He held the bag closer and wrapped an arm around the back of her chair when the lights went down. "I don't think I have anything to say."

"Does that mean you won't talk through the whole movie?" she asked, lowering her voice automatically. It was a habit when the lights went down like that.

"I think it might," he whispered back. No, it really wouldn't.

"Uh huh," she said in that tone people used when they didn't actually believe a word of it, and settled in to watch the movie. Or, pretending to settle in to watch the movie and counting down how long that lasted.

John leaned back to watch the opening sequence, wondering if the movie would ever actually get interesting. Surprisingly, he was good and quiet, hand moving to rest on her shoulder.

While Jaina wasn't new to watching holos like this, she hadn't actually watched one in a place like this with someone who would put his arm around her like that. She leaned a little into him, hating the armrest.
