Stark Industries: Thursday

Lindsay was behind her desk trying to concentrate on her work but kept getting distracted. Every once and a while she'd pick up a phone to call her friends back home or start an e-mail that would start with "Dear Dad" but she'd immediately hang up or close the e-mail before she even started.

So for the most part she was just looking out the window as she tried to make sense of this whole week.

It'd been one of those weeks that he'd wanted to forget but that didn't stop Loki from making a stop on the way back from where he'd been.

He slipped inside the door and leaned against it. "You're looking a mite glum there, Lindsay."

"This week is fucking fired," he said and smiled. "How are you?"

Concern was so...foreign to him.

"I can't help who I am, Lindsay," he said, shrugging. "And really, I haven't changed because you know who I am. You act like I have."

"It makes sense," he said and nodded. "For what it's worth, I'm not going to tell anyone any of that. I thought you might want to hear that even if you knew it. How do you see me now?"

"That you can't even see," he added. "But, come on, you should feel fucking special. You were the first one to see them."

"You watch too much fucking television," he said. "No, you wouldn't be able to tell an angel if they came up to you and kissed you."

He winked at her. Come on, he had to.

"Not all of them," he said and shook his head. "Most of us adapt to what we do. Bartleby, the guy I traveled with, he had a mouth like mine. Metatron, the Voice of God, sounds like a stuffy British man. He curses sometimes."

Everybody seemed off this week and Ronon was no exception. But talking to Lindsay was usually a good kind of frustrating, so there he was, tossing himself into a chair. "You busy?"

"You look it," he replied. "Not much, didn't feel like writing a midterm, so I came to bug you." He had such disdain for tests that couldn't hold death as an option.

"Yeah, 'cause I wanna listen to them whine and cry about Klingons killing them with laps," Ronon barked a laugh at that idea. "Nah, I think I'm gonna make 'em all be cheerleaders and be done with it. No planning in that."

"What's evil in cheerleading?" Ronon teased. "You not much of a happy bouncer?"

[identity profile] satedan-soldier.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Ronon laughed, "No. Do I look like someone who should lead them?"

"Too bad the principal didn't think like you," he groused.
