Turtle & Canary; Tuesday [ 03/03 ].
Being gone for an entire week had left Turtle feeling just a wee bit restless regarding the store, so she came in, when she wasn't in class, in on of the days where just Apu was on duty, to catch up on everything from sales reports to just sitting behind the register because it was comfortable and familiar and awesome. There was certainly more than enough housekeeping to work on, and having stuff to do made her pretty content.

Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
"I need diapers, a crib, a blanket, baby food an' wipes, an' fuzzy things that squeak," he barked. Because this was Serious Business, dammit.
Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
"...Sudden baby?" she guessed, because, around here, that happened, and she felt a sudden drop of heavy dread in the pit of her stomach because she hated dealing with sudden kids.
Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
"Sudden baby-related emergency of some kind," he clarified, already making his way around the store in an attempt to sniff out the diapers. "You got all that stuff? You'll be makin' a killin' if you do, yoto."
Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
"Of course we do," she said. "We've got mostly everything here at Turtle & Canary. The baby stuff is all very conveniently together in Aisle
Handwavey."Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
Handwaveyat a run.It was probably all of five seconds before he could be heard yelling from down the aisle.
"Nobody told me diapers come in different freakin' sizes, dammit!"
Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
"Maybe," she yelled back, congenially, "you should get one of each size, just in case! You can never be too prepared for baby-related emergencies, you know!"
Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
A moment later, Reno could be seen tearing by to grab a shopping cart. He was going to be needing it. And then he was gone down the aisle again, grabbing several packages of diapers to toss into it.
Another minute passed. There was some clattering, some rustling, and then a cacophony of squeaking sounds.
"You think it means anything important if the taggie says ages three an' up?" He called again. "I dunno how old the kid is!"
Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
She was a little apprehensive about the squeaking, though she couldn't fault him at all, considering he'd set her up for another perfect suggestion.
"It's more of a suggestion than a rule!" she called. "But you'd better get a range. A kid without toys to distract him is bad. Or her! Better get a balance between boy, girl, and gender neutral ones!"
Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
The squeaking subsided (for the most part. Squeaky toys were actually pretty distracting) just long enough for Reno to poke around the shelves some more. The sound of something large and heavy landing on top of a cart full of diapers and fuzzy baby toys was probably loud and clear, and then, yet again, Reno was hollering.
"Strained peas or mashed peaches???"
THIS BABY STUFF WAS DIFFICULT, OKAY?
Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
"Both!" she called out. "A balanced diet is important for a growing child!"
Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
Reno was vaguely aware of the metaphorical dollar signs that were floating through the air around the cash register right about then. He made a grab for a jar of baby wipes, thought better of it and grabbed a second, and then reached for a baby blanket and came wheeling around the corner with a full cart, his stun baton still in one hand, and a baby rattle held in his teeth.
He grunted something around the rattle that more or less translated to 'charge it, yo' while he dug around in his pocket for his wallet.
Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
"Sure thing!" she chirped, ringing up all the items with an impressive, well-trained and eager speed.
Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
...
"Might as well charge me for the cart, too."
If the situation was as serious as Rikku made it sound on the phone, he wasn't going to have time to run laps or bring it back, okay?
Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
Not that she'd mind selling it, of course. Not at all. She just wanted to make sure because this all seemed too good to be true. She'd ask Apu to pinch her later if that didn't risk sexual harassment.
Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
He was kind of dancing from foot to foot, now.
"I'll find some kinda use for it somewhere down the road, anyhow. C'mon, c'mooon."
Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
Re: Talk to Turtle -- 03/03.
That was Reno's solemn word, for all that it was probably worth.
"Been good doin' business with you, Turtle. Thanks for the help, yo."
He had noooo idea how he was getting all of this stuff up to the third floor of the dorms, but he supposed he would wing it once he got there.
