So. The apartment was currently a fucking mess. There was glass and blood and fucking apartments seemed to have exploded and there was no way in hell Loki was repairing that shit himself. He'd spent all fucking day on the phone with contractors and renters, cursing each one of them out in his own special way before turning his phone off and huffing it down to Caritas.

And there was no fucking bartender, of course. So, he came back behind the bar, shoved his phone in Tino's hands and told him to take any messages if the phone rang. Tino tried to protest but Loki shut him up with a glare. With one longing look at the alcohol, he grabbed a bottle of water and took up the post behind the bar.

He really didn't want to be a fucking landlord tonight so he'd just be a bartender. And Tino would be his secretary. It worked out.

Mina came in after she finished her shift at the clinic.

She blinked a few times when she sat, having spotted Loki.

"Hoping to make a few bucks to pay off my gambling debts," he teased, smiling. "I got in deep playing dice on the streets. Now Fat Frankie and his goons want my head."

"Lady Wilhelmina!" Minsc, in a very valiant insistence on not using his indoor voice, called out across the bar to her with a lift of his mug in greeting.

Yeah, there was no way Daisy was just going to stay at home and stare at her boarded up window all evening. And, really, she knew her scratches were really bad so she thought she should probably skip an off-island trip to kick off the weekend with dancing. Besides, even if she did go and pick someone up, slightly infected harpy claw marks all over your body were going to be a little hard to explain to someone not from around Fandom.

And, besides...

"Loki! You're tending bar tonight!"

"Like a fucking pro," he answered, smiling at her when he saw her. Ignore that Tino was he one actually doing all the pro work (while answering Loki's occasionally ringing phone). "No bartender meant that I felt it was my duty to get back behind his bar, stare at the alcohol and hope that someone good came to keep me company. And lookit that, I got my fucking wish."

Romeo didn't often go to the bar on his own, but it wasn't as if Yurika wanted to make plans with him, and he needed to get out of the house. So there he was, trying to remember why he had an odd feeling about the bartender.

No matter.

"Appletini, please."

He was drinking on his own; he'd have what he wanted.

Oh, Loki remembered this guy. Kid. Whatever. It'd been awhile but Loki didn't tend to forget those people he had fun picking on.

"What the fuck's an appletini?" Loki asked, directing the question to Tino who was on the phone. "Is that a girl drink?"

"A mug of moderately strong ale!" he declared. "And some water for my hamster!"

"Here," Jonah said, pulling a cigar out of his cigar case for Loki. He was a long-time newspaper man. He was well aware that light bribery could allow you to do a lot of things you wouldn't otherwise be allowed to get away with.
