Luke's Diner, March 15 (Sunday)

Lacey didn't usually go down to staff the diner herself on Sundays, but with the reports of all the little kids running around she kind of wanted to get in there and have some fun with them.

. . . Lacey's track record of good ideas wasn't exactly stellar.

She'd set up a stack of booster chairs and lots of coloring placemats and crayons, and the old buffet table had been wheeled out and arranged with all kinds of kid-friendly moddable food.

As for Lacey herself, she was bouncing around, beaming, and not at all unlike a little kid herself.

[OOC: Open, OCD free, and if you want to traumatize the woman with a phobia of balloons I'll love you forever.]

Because she *looooved* the food there, and 'cause she was gonna go meet the others in the Preserve real soon now, Dinah went into town after talking a pedi-cab guy into taking her there, and stopped at Luke's Diner. Yay!

"Lacey! Lacey! Hi hi hi," Dinah said, holding her hands behind her back. "I got a surprise! Guess!"

[had to be done. heh.]

"Dinah, silly!" Dinah chortled, bouncing on her toes. "You know me! I'm friends with Priestly and Edward and Cal and the guys who make me shakes!"

"Yesss! Heeeere," Dinah said, holding out the balloon from behind her back carefully. "For youu!"

"Ack!" Dinah jumped too, startled out of her skin, and gave Lacey a big-eyed look. "What what what?"

"It's a balloon," Dinah said, staring at her, totally confused. "That's what they're like."

Coming to Luke's when she was tiny was almost a tradition for Mac. If you considered twice 'tradition' anyway.

She wandered up to the counter, hopping up onto her tipetoes and resting her arms and chin on it to look over at Lacey. "Can I have coffee?"

Hopefully this lady would be more accommodating in that respect than the guy with the baseball cap.

"... Please?"

[identity profile] imac-kenzie.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nooooooope." Mac replied with a shake of her head. "I'm seven."

[identity profile] imac-kenzie.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Does not!" she said. "That's geneticism."

... Well, she's half way there.

Mac pulled a face. "Gross." She probably wouldn't know the difference, if it were actually given to her, but that was what her parents estimation and therefore obviously correct.

Since Johnny worked at Luke's, he figured he could play at Luke's.

He came running in holding a bunch of strings (five) that were trailing red and blue balloons.

"HI!"

Oooh! Hot dogs! He made a beeline for the buffet table and quickly shoved one in his mouth. Minus the bun, of course.

Johnny looked behind him. Then back at Lacey, and grinned wide, running for her. "Watcha talkin' 'bout, Miss Lacey? I don't have no more worms. They died."

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
He licked at his bottom lip and looked up at his balloons. He let them go so they floated to the celing. "Wheeeeeeeeeee!"

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
He giggled. "I will fly up there and get 'em for you if you want!" Johnny couldn't fly. Yet.
