The Lighthouse, Wednesday March 18

Murdock was in a cheery good mood today. He'd spent all day yesterday watching TV and munching on the free cereal.

It was a wonder he didn't have a sugar hangover, really.

Work seemed to be going well on the lighthouse. Definitely a noticable improvement over the condition it used to be in.

Bouncing along, Murdock skipped from one job to another, humming and whistling and sometimes even singing as he went.

...perhaps someone was still hopped up on sugar.

(oh so very open!)

"I think we'll be able to start on the tower by mid may." Tully said, after inspecting the house."

"You've done it before?" Tully grinned back.

Tully whistled in amazement. "Damn, I'm glad I hired you."

"I do." Tully nodded. Though he didn't mind being idle for certain lengths of time. "You sound like the kind of guy who wouldn't have trouble finding work."

"Me I've been a shrimp boat sailor, a rancher, a fishing guide, an assistant archeologist, a crewman on a schooner, and a lighthouse keeper. Also a fugitive."

"I don't know all of the charges. Assault, attempted murder probably. Though the only thing I was guilty of was throwing my boss' massage table out the window and decking her assistant. Well that and I guess resisting arrest."

"Well Thelma, that's the lady who's table I threw out, was kind of a psychotic control freak. I think she was less pissed about what I did, than she was the fact that I quit. She bought the cattle ranch I'd lived and worked at most of my life and tried to turn it into a poodle ranch. That she was going to dye pink. Her and her assistant just had these...attitudes that really, really grated."

"Something like that. Thought that came later. At the time it was like, just assuming I was going to go along with them because I was an employee and a redneck besides."

Tully laughed. "Yeah right. I could barely afford to keep Mr. Twain fed and housed."

[identity profile] cowboy-sailor.livejournal.com 2009-03-21 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Sokay. I'm pretty sure Thelma wouldn't have sold it to anyone anyway. She's a psychopathic control freak."

[identity profile] cowboy-sailor.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't think she's someone most people would like."

[identity profile] cowboy-sailor.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
"And now that she had to drop the charges she can't even send bounty hunters after me." he laughed.

[identity profile] cowboy-sailor.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, I know." Tully agreed.

"Ever hear of the Stillton Brothers?"

[identity profile] cowboy-sailor.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"A few times. I managed to get out of dodge each time though. I've had the good luck to make very good friends."

[identity profile] cowboy-sailor.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Don't you love it when that happens to the bad guys. The look on the Stilltons the second time they caught up to me was priceless."
