Caritas - Sunday evening [Open]

The zombie drummer was sitting at the bar tonight. He had nailed seven of the teams in the Elite Eight, but with four minutes left in the UNC-Oklahoma game, it looked like he was going to lose every single pick for the Final Four. "Braaaaaiiiiiiiiins," he whined.

"There there," Jolee said. "Tell you what, you go back to the stage and Tino will bring you a smoothie shortly."

The drummer seemed to accept this and moved slowly back towards the stage. His decreased speed was due entirely to muscle decay and atrophy and not emo, though.

Tino glared at Jolee. "Do you want him stinking up the bar? There's a reason the stage is all the way over there. Now get started on his smoothie."

Don't mind the drummer if he's a little slow tonight. He takes gambling very seriously.

Which has been Lysoled since the drummer went back to the stage.

Mina sat down and gave a curious sniff.

"...lemon?" she said.

"I doubt actual fruit has anything to do with it," Jolee said.

[OOC: OMG, modder! It could have been pine.]

"To do with what, sir?" Mina asked, genuinely curious.

[ooc: Ack, sorry about that. My bad.]

"To cover up the smell of zombies," Jolee said. "They don't seem to wash themselves very well."

[OOC: I kid, I kid!]

"So you douse them with lemon fragrance?" Mina said, not quite following.

"No, Tino sprayed the bar area with lemon-scented anti-bacterial cleanser," Jolee said. "It keeps the scent from lingering and should help keep the bar nice and clean."

"Ah, yes," Mina said. "Quite hygienic. I am grateful for the extra care."

"We do what we can as long as all we need to do is spray something," Jolee mock-bragged.

Mina chuckled. "Indeed," she said. "I will have a... Cosmopolitan, I believe they are called?"

"Really? Have you been talking to Miss York recently?" Jolee asked as Tino started to make the drink.

"Alas, not too recently," Mina said. "I should catch up with her soon, though. It has been too long."

"What inspired the change in drinks, if you don't mind me asking," Jolee asked as Tino brought the drink over.

"I'm trying to become a little more modern," Mina said. "I spent the evening out this past Friday, with Miss Day. It was an... educating experience."

"Did you have a good time during your education?" Jolee asked.

"Mostly, yes," Mina said. "Though I do not believe I shall ever feel comfortable being about in public with so much skin showing."

"I tend to yell at young people for showing off skin. But I'm a cranky old man," Jolee said.

Mina smiled. "But a cranky old man with morals," she said.

"Actually, it's just a convenient thing to yell at them about. I'll take pretty much any excuse they give me," Jolee said. "It's the joy of being an old man."

"As is your every right," Mina said. "After all, a man of your years and experience has special privileges."

"Damn right I do!" Jolee said. "A lot of people don't agree with that point of view."

"Mostly young people, I imagine," Mina said with a chortle.

"Good call. How'd you figure that one out?" Jolee asked.

"The young are the most likely to value youth over experience," Mina said. "Since they only have the former."

"Not a bad answer," Jolee said. "But I think the more correct answer is because some old guy is yelling at them about something random again."

Mina laughed. "Well, I suppose if we wish to cut to the chase, that is correct."

Which does not smell despite the proximity to the zombies.

Which currently is showing the end of the UNC game.

The drummer's story is, in fact, my own. I had the Elite Eight very nearly NAILED - I even had Missouri over Memphis! - and now I'm completely done for. Geez. I'm glad it was only a $10 buy-in.
