Over in a certain area of the store, Amber was busy making a neat little display of animal soaps. If she was mumbling under her breath as she hopped a duck and a pig around on top of an empty shoebox, well, she wouldn't own up to it. She was keeping busy, that's all that mattered.

There was a knock on the shop door before Liir slipped in with a bag of lunch at, goodness, lunch time.

"Amber?"

He didn't see her at the front.

Her arm shot in the air and she wiggled her fingers. "Over here!" She was still playing with those animal soaps. They begged for attention, really.

He left the bag on the counter and made his way over to her.

"I see," he said, sitting down beside her in front of the soaps.

"I brought lunch."

She turned her head to smile at him. "Aren't you thoughtful," she sing-songed. "What did you bring?"

"Some chicken soup, grilled cheese with tomato, some lemonade. Nothing complicated."

He reached out with one arm for a quick hug.

"How's your day been?"

"Mmm, that sounds nummy," she replied, leaning into the hug.

"Oh, it's been fine. I've been uh, working on displays and stuff." Just one display, but it was important.

"Do you want a soap?" Plucking up a little white cow, Amber made a small mooo'ing sound at him.

"I could certainly buy some soap today," he offered, looking at the cow.

"Is it made with cow's milk?" he questioned curiously.

"Nuh-uh," she told him with a lift of her brow, amusement in her eyes. "I'm buying you some soap. They're just too cute, aren't they?" The pigs, and ducks, and cows, and turtles... and so many more.

"Um, I don't think so? Maybe goats milk. I've never checked the ingredients."

"Fair enough. As long as it gets one clean."

And it spoke to a certain level of trust that he didn't even fight her on buying him soap.

"I have to tell you," she began, leaning towards him all conspiritorial like, "I sort of like to collect these. I don't wash with them; it ruins their faces and makes them look...melty."

A slight pause.

"But they do work and they smell great."

"I suppose I could handle that. They do smell nice, after all."

Amber beamed at him and leaned to kiss his cheek. "Do you know what day is coming up?"

"I believe Thursday is next. Then Friday. There are a few days that could be coming up, but I'm not sure if I should guess."

Graduation was what came up for him. As did 'the play'.

There didn't seem to be anyone behind the counter, so Murdock wandered through the aisles, sneaky-like.

He grinned when he spotted Amber and leaned against a shelf, just watching her acting out her animal scene. It was cute, alright?

The slight giggle however was not so sneaky even though he tried to cover.

"...and Mr. Pig no more snori-" That giggle had her snapping her head around and she dropped her soap.

"Murdock! Hihihi!" And that would be Amber going in for a tackle-hug.

Oh god, that was far too cute and Murdock totally lost it, laughing his butt off.

He caught her and gave her a huge hug back, grinning at her. "Ya know, one of these days you're going to do that and I'm gonna miss."

"You will never miss!" she declared, hugging him tightly.

"How have you been? What have you been up too? Are you coming to the play? You have to come to graduation too, oh my gosh!"

When it came to catching bouncy teenage girls, yah, he probably wouldn't miss.

"Whoa, has it been that long?" he chuckled at the fire of questions. "I'm good, mostly just workin', yes I will and probably drag Abby Irene with me, and yah I'll be there for that too."

"So graduatin' eh? You excited 'bout that?" And he totally wouldn't think about what that meant.

"Seems like forever," came her exaggerated response. "Work is going okay? And yay! But oh, I should tell you or warn you-" little smirky giggle "-Loretta might be coming to graduation too."

She bounced and beamed up at him. "I am totally excited!" She was. Today she was. No focusing on what graduation meant. Nope.

"Yah," he nodded. "The cop thing ain't exactly what I thought it'd be," he hadn't gotten to shoot anything not even once, dang it, "but the lighthouse is fun."

"Oh lord," he rolled his eyes slightly. "Please tell me she's gonna behave herself. I mean, she's nice an' all just a bit...overwhelmin'." To put it mildly.

"Cool. Should be fun. Big party afterward?"

"What do you do over at the lighthouse?" she asked, thinking that the cop thing could be ignored for now. She didn't like the thought of him getting hurt. Possibly or otherwise.

"Like I can control Loretta?" she snickered. "Maybe if she see's your lady on your arm, she'll keep a fair distance." But Amber wouldn't count on it. No girl ever kept her from wanting or getting a man.

She shrugged. "I don't know. Probably though."

"Fixin' it!" he grinned. "It's kinda in bad shape but workin' on a lighthouse is just cool, know what I mean? You still ought to come by and check it out. Neat view of the island."

"Heh, yah. I can only hope."

Though it would be interesting to see Loretta and Abby Irene react. Really, that could be quite a show. ~~and mun puts her bet on Abby Irene nodnod~~

"You gotta have a party! It's not a real graduation without one!"

"What days are you there and I'll make a point of it, I swear to you," she promised. She would too, and make sure she did it before she left this island.

She just grinned sweetly at him. Loretta was something else and he knew that firsthand.

"There's sure to be one," she laughed. "We'll all want to get wild afterwards!"

"Usually I'm there on Wednesdays, though obviously I ain't there today," he smirked. "Be there next week for sure."

"Just don't get too wild. Don't want nobody gettin' in trouble with the school." Among other things.

"Then I will be there too," she said. "I'll sneak away from here or come after work."

She gave him a totally mock-innocent stare. "Trouble? Who me?"
