Fight Club, Atlas Gym, Sunday Evening, 5/10

"We are missing an Atreides today," Tyler announced impatiently, as the group assembled. "She'll be back next week, but today I'm in charge all by myself. Other than that, it's the usual drill. We pair up. We fight as long as we have to. Hopefully we learn something. Rules are over on the door, talk to me if you have questions, let's get this going."

He certainly didn't seem inclined to wait for feedback as he dropped to the mat himself to stretch out.

Jaina was partly keeping an eye out for new faces, looking to see who of the new kids, if any, would find themselves here. Call her curious.

She'd come because the one girl had mentioned it to her and because her fingers were twitching for something to do. She made sure to leave her rubber band in the room for the moment, but she wanted...

She still wanted to let out a bit of her aggravation.

She was, however, curious as to who else might be here.

Ben needed something to hit after missing out last week. He glanced around, wondering if any of the new kids would make their way down here as well.

Tahiri was looking around for any new faces too, in what seemed to be a theme for the day.

. . . not that she hoped her new little sibling would show up, and she could beat up on him in a sanctioned kind of fashion or anything, really. As long as she could get out of her system all the beating up on him she'd wanted to do yesterday. Because argh.

Elspeth of Valdemar - Advanced

Firekeeper and Blind Seer were here. Not stretching, as usual. You didn't stretch before a real fight, so why stretch before a staged one?

"Tahiri," Tyler greeted, heading her way. "Did you still want that spar?"

She was a girl and a foot shorter. He figured she deserved an opportunity to back out.

Zack Fair - Advanced

And I so, so hear you on the sleepy thing. Sleeepy.

Deadpool had mentioned this meeting to him yesterday at the picnic, and Zack had found himself terribly curious about it. If this was the place to go to continue training, well, then he was happy to check it out!

He was wide-eyed and smiling happily as he took in the sight of the people already gathered. And he was wondering if they were going to want him to take off his armor, if this was going to be unarmed fighting and all. Nobody else that Zack could see appeared to be wearing any, and he was iffy about having an unfair advantage that way.

Plus, punching metal pauldrons probably hurt.

At least there was one Atreides present. Leto watched the people arriving, wondering how many of the new students had heard of Fight Club yet.

She was still annoyed over Alex's cracks about her height the day before, so that was hardly likely to stop her.

"If you do? Definitely," Tahiri answered, not looking phased for a moment about the height difference as she nodded up at him. There was a certain amount of self-confidence there, yes, but also a good bit of pent-up frustration. It occurred to her then, belatedly, that she probably should have mentioned this earlier, so: "You know I'm a Jedi, right?"

Another watchful student. She wondered if the attacks were so frequent that there needed to be constant sentinels at any gathering. Thinking he might be some sort of official or at least a trusted member of this 'club', she walked over.

"Hello," she started, "are you a member of the 'club'? Do you know if they'll be letting in new members?"

Leto studied the new girl while meeting her eyes and smiling. "Membership isn't that formal," he replied. "And as long as you follow the rules you are welcome. I am Leto Atreides, and my sister is one of the organisers although she is not here today. Do you fight?"

She looked down at her hands for a moment.

"I didn't. But then I had to."

And now it's the only thing that feels good most of the time.

"It seemed like a club that would be good for me."

She offered her hand a little stiffly.

"Fiona," she said. Then. "Your sister?"

He took her hand, amused, and locked his fingers around it. "You are not alone in that, it seems. Ghanima Atreides is my sister, my twin. Time is a strange thing and here she is older than me and a teacher."

"You're a twin?"

There was plenty of other information in there, of course, but with her brother missing for the first time in her entire life, it was the first thing that she questioned. Her hand squeezed a little.

Eliot. Goodness, what where they doing with Eliot?

He held on to her hand. "Yes. I am." Clearly, that made some impression on her."

Ronan was stretching out, ready to face anyone who wished it today, regardless of his -- or their -- own level of ability. He had a satchel with him, too, first aid equipment and his healer's blade, in case anyone got too injured.

If he hadn't, she would have let go. Why was it that she never realized how attached she was to the little geek until they were separated?

"Me too," she finally confided, "though my brother isn't here. They wanted us to go to different schools. It's the first time."

"I'm sorry," he said with genuine feeling, letting go of her hand. "I was lucky to find Ghanima here."
