Turtle & Canary; Tuesday [ 05/12 ].

Having only a workshop first thing in the morning, Turtle decided to use the rest of her day by going back into the store. There was still some hiring that could be done, so she wanted to be there for that, but she was also thinking she should get everything update and get some training stuff together for Hope and Maron, and, well, face it, there was always just work that needed to be done and she might as well get it done now, since she'll also be busy with her new position (OMFG YAY) with Cabot and Associates.

Behind the counter, surrounded by paperwork, Turtle took a moment and sighed. For the most part, it was a happy sigh. It was the beautiful start to a new semester. There was just a little part of her that wished pretty hard that it wasn't a whole new beginning all around for her, too. Work could only distract so much, and she was thinking she should call Jeff. Not even just to see how things were going with the franchise. Just to see how things were going with him... He would have been really proud about the new job...

"Dor! Hey. Not too bad; I've got a new job. You?"

"Good," Dor said looking a little confused. "You have a new job? Don't you already have a job here?"

"Another job," Turtle said. "And this one's in law! I've been wanting to switch my focus, especially now that I'll be a senior, so this is a great start. I'll still be doing everything here, with T&C, don't get me wrong, but success is just another word for overachiever, you know."

"The thing you do at the night where you close your eyes and become unconscious and then wake up later in a puddle of dog drool and you can't breathe because a dog is on top of you," Dor replied. "But that's just me."

Fiona slipped into the store with the last of her money from Uncle Henry, wondering if she'd have enough for what she'd come for. Pixie Dust had been lovely for getting all manner of nice clothing, but there were still certain pieces missing from her 'new' wardrobe that she was a bit too prudish to go shopping for with someone else.

She found the pieces and, after working up the amount, was glad to see she had enough before she made her way to the counter. Finding Turtle there was a bit surprising.

"Can you ring me up?" she asked, holding the packages close to her chest.

"Oh, hey, Fiona," Turtle gave the other girl a smile. "Sure; that's what I'm here for. Did you find everything you were looking for okay?"

She nodded quickly before walking a little closer.

"Everything. I should have just enough for what I got, in fact."

A few more jeans, a t-shirt or two, and underneath those, packages of underthings that she really hoped Turtle scanned as quickly as possible. And possibly without looking at them.

"How are you today?"

You were supposed to ask that, right?

"Actually," Turtle offered as she started to scan through Fiona's items, "since you're new, you can get a discount, so it'll all be fifty percent cheaper. I'll throw in a free Squishy to try today, too, if you'd like."

She gave Fiona a smile. "And I'm good today. How about yourself? Everything going okay?"

Fifty percent? That was... rather high. She smiled almost in spite of herself.

"What's a Squishy?"

She realized she'd been asked something.

"Oh, I'm fine. I even got a job over at the new law office."

"With Miss Cabot?" asked Turtle, and her grin widened a little. "Me, too! I'm working on Mondays. And a Squishy is nothing short of delicious. That's our SquishyBot, Bob, right there. She makes them. They're delicious cold slushy drinks that come in a variety of great flavors."

She almost wished she hadn't asked. Now she knew what she'd be missing. And of course, this was going to be awkward.

"Thank you, but no thanks."

She moved right along, though.

"I'm working today, Tuesdays. So far, there hasn't been much to do but I've been trying to keep busy."

Glinda swept into the store, taking up much of the aisle she was hurrying down with her skirt. "Hello!" she called, catching sight of Turtle. "I wonder if you could help me locate some items, please."

"Sure!" Turtle's response, however, was bright. "What are you looking for, ma'am?"
