Turtle and Canary -- Friday

Hope was kind of loving this having a job thing, especially a job like this one. It was her first day working since her mun forgot last Friday was last Friday she'd been unavoidably busy, but she hadn't gotten any calls from Turtle yelling at her so she figured she was safe.

But she was still being extremely careful as she got everything ready and opened the store.

Today's squishy flavors: Confusion, Blue, What Did I Do Last Night.

... Hope was pretty sure Apu was laughing at her for those.

"Pretty well, I think," Hope said. "I haven't broken the Squishy machine yet and Apu's only burst into gales of laughter at me twice."

"Awww, you got Apu to laugh?" Turtle asked, with a laugh of her own. "That's good! That means he might actually like you. Otherwise, he'd just roll his eyes a lot."

"Well, he was pointing at me while doing it, so he could've just been mocking the newbie." Hope shrugged. "Or he's just glad I didn't break the squishy machine."

"That is true," Turtle reasoned. "Because then he'd have to fix it. Unless you're a certified SquishyBot repairperson?"

"Sadly, no," Hope said. "... that could be a useful thing to be here, though."

"Apu's actually pretty decent at it, thankfully," Turtle said. "Bob was specially made for the store, so it's not like we can just call any old repairperson in on the job."

Turtle couldn't help smiling at a response like that, even if it was a sad smile. "She used to have a nametag, but I've left it off in remembrance of my assistant manager. We fought over the name a lot, but I stuck with his choice, Bob, in remembrance."

Hope caught the sadness in the smile. "Something happened, huh?"

Turtle nodded and only just now gawked at her idiocy in tagging into the wrong thread, LOL. "Yeah. It was the plague a while ago. He was a good kid." She tried to smile through it, though.

Turtle's head bobbed a little again. "Yeah; it hit here a while ago. A lot of people got really sick before everyone figured out a way how to cure it..."

She bit her lip a little, trying not to think about how it was a little too late for some. She felt a little bad, delving into those really deep topic when she'd only meant to come in and see how Hope was getting along, but it might also be good for her to know about some of the hard hitting stuff that happened around here sometimes.
