Caritas - Sunday evening [Open]

Jolee and Tino watched as a terrifying sight was unfolding. It wasn't a terrifying sight like they saw in the back room the one day, although it did share the same participants.

The zombie bass player got down on one half of a knee and proposed to Zombie Yoko. When he put the ring on her finger, the finger fell off. And then, suddenly, a chipmunk ran into the bar, grabbed the finger in its teeth, and scampered off with two zombies lurching after it.

"Does that mean they're not engaged?" Jolee asked Tino. Tino shrugged. "I don't think a squirrel would have done that. They're too smart and that finger can't be healthy." Tino shrugged.

[OOC: In zombie culture, losing one's ring finger means that no engagement took place. Strange but true as far as I know. Vague inspiration for this post by [livejournal.com profile] trickster_twin.]

Mina settled in to a seat at the bar. She smiled pleasantly at Jolee. "It is good to see you, Jolee."

"Indeed it has," Mina said. "I would enjoy a small gin, if you would please, Tino?" She turned her attention back to Jolee. "How have you been faring, friend?"

Mina blanched. "I am not sure which sounds like a worse experience."

Ahhhhhh, nothing quite like a weekend of brawls and fights to really whet a man's whistle.

Plus, he owed Lady Glinda a drink, especially since she had come into Fight Club after all. "Barkeep!" he announced when he reached the bar. "Fetch me a mug of moderately strong ale, some water for my hamster, and whatever the little lady here would like!"

"One of the pomtinis, please," Glinda said as she finally got onto the bar stool next to Minsc. "Nameless God, I'm sore. And you do this for fun?"

"All the time!" Minsc said happily. "And, you know, the best way to help with the soreness is to do it often! Then you get so used to it you don't even notice anymore!"

"I might stick to magic," she replied, gratefully accepting her drink. "But I can see how going to Fight Club would keep you in such good shape."

"It is hardly," said Minsc, interrupting his reply with a swig of his ale, "the rigorous routine I kept up back home, but I am technically retired now, so I guess slowing down a little is part of the deal."

"Well, not fully retired," she said, holding up a finger to pause him, "as you're a teacher!" And then she sipped from her pomtini.

Minsc couldn't help it; he grinned very happily at that. "Well," he said, "I don't usually have a little lady friend with me, either! It's a nice addition."

He glanced around a moment before leaning in to whisper, in not at all a quiet voice, "I could get used to that kind of addition more often."

Mina eyed Minsc from where she sat. And then she felt rather uncomfortable that she felt a pang of something not unlike jealousy when Glinda joined him.

Mina would not say anything, no.

Minsc hadn't noticed Lady Wilhelmina there at first, but when he did...

...hoo boy. He and Boo exchange a little bit of a look, Boo making it very clear that he sure hoped Lady Wilhelmina didn't have anything else of his that she was going to have a bonfire out of at his door.

But Minsc did give a little bit of a wave. Because he was an idiot.

"You seem well," Mina remarked, even though she was really thinking now was not the time.

Minsc took a moment to scratch at that giant goose-egg on his head from his fight with Sir Deadpool last night, one of many cuts and bruises peppered over him.

"Thanks," he said with a tentative smile. "You, too, Lady Wilhelmina."

He wanted to say something about how it was nice to see her without a blowtorch, but a random moment of self-preservation seemed to have kicked in.

"You have not come down with any diseases of the loins?" Mina said, a teeny bit of an edge in her otherwise courteous voice.
