Support Services Meeting: The Park, Friday at lunchtime
The incredibly girly posters had been handwavey said to meet a little earlier this time, but Francine had a reason for that. When people got to the main picnic shelter, they'd find all the tables covered today. With food. Some of it was open and obviously for nomming on right away, but most of it was small, pre-packaged items, or things one could easily shove into a small package.
Francine sat up on one of the tables near the front, looking a little less nervous than she had for the last couple of meetings. This stuff, she knew, and didn't feel like an idiot trying to tell other people about.
"One of the things we can do to help out is to make sure the people who are out there defending us have something to eat - and us too. It may not seem like a huge deal, but if you're wearing yourself out fighting or throwing energy bolts at something, you need to re-fuel - and it's the same thing if you're staying up til four in the morning in the library, trying to find a cure or break a spell. If we have food ready, it's one less thing that everybody else doesn't have to think about." She smiled and picked up a small bag of cookies. "And it's just nice to know somebody cares, too, you know? Food's comforting, and it's a reminder that we're all trying to help each other, when you need that little extra push to get through."
"We've got lists of all the members of the Fighting and Magic Reserves here, so we're gonna try two things at once today: get used to putting stuff like this together, and get to know the people on the other teams. Everybody gets to pack a lunch, and then try to go find somebody in one of the Reserves to give it to! Not that they're meeting as groups today, but think of it like a scavenger hunt: you get an extra bag of cookies next week if you managed feed a reservist." She paused, then added, "Or, you know, anybody who looks hungry."
[OOC: Bridgey gets no free cookies; for her, there's a toll. The rest of you may play, for OCD is up!]

She listlessly dragged herself over to the table with cookies and grabbed a few. She wasn't hungry, but she knew she should eat.

He'd figured out how the phone book worked. That didn't mean he was fast at it.

Because there was no way presentable and pleasant was likely to be a part of the equation if she actually had to do more than organize it.
Re: Pack a Lunch!
Urg. One of these days, maybe something she goes into won't leave her thinking about Jeff and getting that kick in the stomach that made her feel incredibly weak in the arms and depressed. One of the days...
Sullenly, she started packing a lunch, wondering if it would count that she could just make it for herself, since she worked with the regular fighting reserve, too...
Talk to the Girls
