MCA Lobby; Wednesday [ 07/01 ].

Well, today was the first day of a new month, and so it just seemed right that it would be Rachel's first day really setting to the task of the new responsibility placed on her shoulders, squared proudly in a very nice jacket, professional and feminine, and she thought again to herself, if the girls could see me now! No more shadow of a red dress behind her husband, who people only talked to because it was a social service and not because they wanted to, but a individual woman on her own right.

"Now let's see..." Unsure of where to start, Rachel sorted through a few things and then got to what was probably the best place. It didn't involve anything like getting to actually familiarize herself with who was who in her building, but more like familiarizing herself with who was where, what they owed in rent, and when their payments were due. She was here to run a business here, people, not make best friends forever.

Robin came meandering out of her apartment with a group of dogs in tow -- a black Lab puppy, a Shiba Inu, a Dalmatian and a Chihuahua, for those curious -- and tilted her head at the blonde who was where her old landlord used to be. "Hi?"

"Yeah, and in a bit I'll come back for the rest of them," Robin said, nodding. "There's, um, a few more in there. We like dogs. Are you new in town? I don't think I've seen you before."

Robin arched a brow, but smiled. "Nah -- we just have eight. Six are mine, two are my boyfriend's, including this little guy." She nodded to the puppy, then shifted the assorted leashes to her left hand to offer her right to Rachel. "Huh, I didn't even know Rusty'd gone. But anyway, hi, I'm Robin Scherbatsky. I'm actually the deputy mayor, so if you need help settling in or finding anything, I'm kind of your girl, too."

"Oh, yeah, I know Marshall and Lily -- that's his wife, she teaches up at the school -- from home," Robin said with a quick nod. "We go way back. And good job on finding the bar early on; I think that was the first place I went when I got here, after I'd found an apartment."

"Ugh, yes," Robin agreed emphatically. "Those weekends are always hellish. I work at the bar on Sundays, actually, but I'm not sure I know your sister." But then again, Robin didn't know most of the kids by their actual names.

"Oh!" Robin did, in fact, remember her. "If she's the one I'm thinking of, she came in on my nights a couple times and got amontillado. I just remember because, you know, what seventeen year-old kid gets freaking amontillado? I was drinking Labatts at that age." Not that that had changed in twelve years.
