Guilty As Charged - Thursday [7/16]

The fact that something Fandom was going on today was very noticeable. So noticeable in fact, that Jon figured out before his first cup of coffee. Mostly because he was singing to the coffee maker. And trying not to talk just didn't help. He'd even considered duct taping his own mouth shut, until he realized that he didn't have the worst voice in the cabin. Or the school. Or even the town.

He was going to deal with it though. Even if he was singing to the skateboards as he stacked them in the back.

Claire was still kinda freaked about the whole bursting into song thing when she showed up at Guilty as Charged.

She had two missions. One, to see her boyfriend. Two, to look into buying a bike.

"Hey," she said, hoping to keep from singing again.

Jon was thankful that he stopped singing to the boards when Claire showed up.

"Hi." That hope was mutual. "Having a day?"

"Yeah. I sorta sang at my dad on the phone," she said.

So far, so good.

Jon winced, because he could imagine how that went. "I hope everything is okay and that you..."

He should have known it was going to happen.

Jon stood there, as if waiting for something, and then facepalmed. Literally.

When the music swelled, Claire's eyes got wide. She started to laugh at Jon's predicament.

"I couldn't if I tried"

At least until she joined him in that predicament.

Jon was going to go hide and get very, very drunk when this was over.

"Ah, Honey, if I get restless"

He didn't even like this song!

Baby? Since when did she call him Baby?

Jon shrugged and moved to restock the wall of equipment as he continued to sing.

Claire had to laugh. Because really, it was funny.

Like, bad Meatloaf tunes.

That was so very true. And at least there weren't schmoopy declarations of love.

"Ooh, I gave you my key."

No, no she didn't.

They did harmonize quite nicely on the next line though. "Ooh-hoo, and nobody knows it"

Except she was pretty sure that people did know they were together so what did that even mean?

Well, that was just his normal mood, wasn't it?

The harmonizing happened again. "Ooh-hoo, and nobody knows it"

The only people who didn't know it were the ones who didn't listen to the radio. Like, her dad.

Errr, okay, if the song said so.

Claire sort of shrugged and then Jon joined her repeating the line.

"Ooh-hoo.. I gave you my heart."

Jon sighed as he repeated his line, again. "So don't go breaking my heart"

Oh, another harmonizing part. "Don't go breaking my heart"

It went on forever. And had no point since it turned out Elton played for the other team.

"And nobody told us" Well, that was just as stupid as the 'no one knows' bit.

That was kind of weird. What would anyone need to tell them?

"`Cause nobody showed us."

The brochures about CrazyLand Fandom, maybe.

"And now it's up to us, Babe"

Oh, now he was calling her Babe?

Claire wasn't sure how she felt about that pet name.

"Ooh I think we can make it"

Well, that was true at least.

"So don't misunderstand me"

He didn't remember saying anything to make her misunderstand him.

Okay, that was a little schmoopy.

That was schmoopy too. He sort of hoped this was over soon, which is why he grabbed a soda from the cooler and held it out to her.

She gladly took the soda and hoped that they were almost done because now she was thirsty.

"I've got your heart in my sights"

"Is it over yet?" Jon grinned after saying that, because he'd been wanting to for a few minutes now.

"Well, that was ...interesting."

Claire took a long drink of her soda before responding.

"Interesting is one word for it."

"And I can think of others." He had that itching in the back of his neck, like he was going to start doing something again.

"Like what?" Claire asked.

Jon grinned. "Embarrassing, frustrating, weird."

"Awww, don't be embarrassed," she said. "We were both singing."

"I'm thinking for other people. It makes you wonder who is getting outted by their music."

Because that was just funny in a way.

Claire considered that. "Okay, good point."
