Sometimes, Valentine Wiggin was just a horrible person.

Though thoroughly pleased to find herself not in the mood any more to randomly break out into song at random interjections, she felt others might perhaps miss the music in their lives and had compiled together a series of merchandise to offer to them based on that fact. Which included products driven to the tunes on your iPod, musical condoms, and rather inventive instruments.

The crap people came up with. Although, really, Valentine rationalized that at least people were using their creativity into something like this instead of more effective ways to kill off mass populations. You could get some use and entertainment out of a toy that played music, but a musical A-bomb was probably less likely to be enjoyed.

And they still had something approaching modesty, but that felt prudish to say.

"And it is odd, that it would stand still. Maybe there just weren't any great inventors in the time in between," he suggested. "Or perhaps their energies were focused elsewhere."

"Buggers," Valentine agreed, appropriately as they were drifting by the gay porn. She shrugged her shoulders. "Books haven't changed much in hundreds of years, either, though. It could just be a matter of finding a working formula."

Jack snorted at the apropos comment, letting his eyes drift over the display.

... Jack, it seemed, was an equal-opportunity perv.

"I don't think intercourse has changed, either, going by the 'working formula' theory," he observed. "Mankind likes to stick to the basics at times."

"A fair point." They were close to a table of books, and had passed by the worst of the other wares as I shamelesly mod. Jack could not say he wasn't relieved. "Are these what we're looking for?"

Valentine nodded. "This would be it," she said to the shameless dirty modder. "This is the classier stuff, which is basically code word for 'not as blatantly vulgar'."

"'Fewer naked bodies,' " Jack nodded, picking up a volume to thumb through it. It was almost artistic, for certain broad definitions of art. "And I think some of this even seems to have a sense of humor."
