Sometimes, Valentine Wiggin was just a horrible person.

Though thoroughly pleased to find herself not in the mood any more to randomly break out into song at random interjections, she felt others might perhaps miss the music in their lives and had compiled together a series of merchandise to offer to them based on that fact. Which included products driven to the tunes on your iPod, musical condoms, and rather inventive instruments.

The crap people came up with. Although, really, Valentine rationalized that at least people were using their creativity into something like this instead of more effective ways to kill off mass populations. You could get some use and entertainment out of a toy that played music, but a musical A-bomb was probably less likely to be enjoyed.

Last night, Jack and Elena hadn't actually made it out of the cabin -- they drank and talked until he just wanted to go back to his alcove and sleep. This was fine with Jack; it gave him an excuse to visit Valentine at work.

... and try not to look at the things on the shelves he was pretty sure weren't even invented, let alone legal, in 1899. (He was liberated for his time, but the "for his time" was key.)

"Valentine," he greeted, squashing down his discomfort. "Hello! Are you familiar enough with the stock to recommend a gift to me?"

"Jack," Valentine gave him a small smile, feeling a little like he probably wouldn't want to know just how familiar she actually had gotten with some of it. "Familiar enough. I won't try to get you to betray your confidence by asking who the gift is for, but I will ask what it is you're trying to say with that gift."

Although if he was getting the gift here...

"It's for a girl. We were supposed to go shopping for 'booze and porn' last night and got distracted just talking," Jack said, leaning against the counter. It was considerate of Valentine not to go into too many details about her familiarity with the shop's wares; he would have exploded trying not to ask unwise follow-up questions, and that would just be messy all the way around.

"I want a joke gift. Not a 'hi, can we go to bed now' gift." He was neither that forward nor, beyond his usual baseline, that interested. "Anything you can think of that would work?"

"Booze and porn," Valentine repeated, nodding thoughtfully and considering Jack for what she hoped was just slightly long enough to make him start to feel a little more uncomfortable than he already was but not long enough that it would be obvious she was doing it. "And we've got plenty of porn here. Anything particular she's interested in? Maybe we can narrow it down to a theme."

Jack laughed softly, flustered as Valentine had hoped and feeling ridiculous in it. "I ... don't know. Police officers? And preferably something that won't get me slapped."

"I can't claim a no-slap guarantee," Valentine said with an apologetic grin, "but police officers I can do. You sound unsure, though. You meant to go find booze and porn and wound up talking and you can't think of anything?"

Castiel was exploring the town. Don't ask what it was about this particular store that drew him in. Perhaps it was the alliteration.

Either way, he was there, standing just inside the door way and looking around. By the look on his face, he had absolutely no idea what most of the things in the store did. Or possibly just no idea why anyone would have a whole store devoted to them.

With such...personal stock as that found at the store, Valentine was willing to give the man some space as he looked around, but the look convinced her that she should pull out the helpful shopgirl guns.

"Hi," she gave a small smile, "welcome to Dite's Decadent Delights. I'm Valentine; can I help you find anything particular?"

Under that look, Valentine just slowly made her smile a little bit more unassuming and kind. "Providing, for purchase, a variety of items to suited to address romantic and erotic leisurely needs," she offered. "Sir."

There; nice and clinical. Turtle would be proud.
