Hinata was, quietly, of the opinion that it was getting deeply tiring hearing about how she’d managed with Hurley.

It wasn’t like she’d carried him, after all, and determination wasn’t hard to come by. (Unless her father was around.) Yei, though, was the only one who got that complaint and Hinata was smiling slightly as she came in, set up, and settled in to read with a fuzzy white cat stalking the shelves.

Hurley came into Book haven with a box. A quite large box, filled with large cinnamon rolls.

"Hey Hinata," he said.

She looked up from her book, and smiled. "Hello, Hurley," Hinata said, "I'm glad you've recovered."

"Me too," Hurley said. "But apparently I have you to thank for that."

She pinked up.

"Anyone would h-have," she insisted mildly.

[Sorry for the slow! First day back from vacation equals a very busy mun!]

"But you did," Hurley said. "And that means a lot, so..."

He set the box down. "These are for you."

She blinked at him, then at the box.

"For me?"

"For you," he said. "I figured, well, you did something for me, so I should, like, reciprocate and stuff."

She was many things, of course, but she'd been drilled in manners from a very young age.

"Th-thank you," she said, flushing. "That's very kind of you. I only did what anyone would have."

"Yeah, but... you did it," Hurley said. "So... yeah."

"Thank you," she repeated, flushing. "That's very kind of you."

Hinata cast about for a subject change.

"Have you been alright since?"

"Yeah," Hurley said. "Kinda a little... scared at times? But otherwise okay."

"Scared?" she asked gently. "Of F-Fandom? Or of something else?"

"I dunno how to put it," Hurley said. "But, like... sometimes I start worrying about stuff from that other universe."

"About it h-happening like that here?" she asked, tilting her head. "Or about those who were left there?"

"Like... worried the guy who killed me might just show up or something," Hurley said. "It's dumb, sorry."

"There's no need to apologize," she said, smiling slightly. "I... if you were there, do you think the one who hurt you was as w-well?"

"I don't know," Hurley said. "I've never seen the guy before. He must've gone to the school before or something."

"P-Perhaps, then," she said, "there's nothing to worry about? If he too is horrified."

"I dunno," Hurley said. "If he was over there for it? He was having fun. It was kinda... creepy."

"Maybe," she offered tentatively, "he hadn't shown up there at that point?"

Hurley just shook his head. "I think I'm better off not thinking about it."

Her grin was small, but there. "M-Maybe for the best," Hinata agreed.

"Yeah," Hurley said. "Now, don't eat these all at once. I don't want you getting sick."

"I'll take care," she said lightly. "And th-thank you again."

"No, thank you," Hurley said. "I'll catch you later, okay?"

She nodded. "Later," Hinata said. "And I was glad to h-help."
