Support Services Meeting: The Park, Friday afternoon

The girls were back out at the picnic tables today, and Morgana was looking rather pleased.

"I believe I speak for both Francine and myself when I say thank you to everyone who came to help with the researching last week," she said. "Although what happened wasn't quite the danger for which we've been preparing, we were very well organized, and I was amazed by how well everyone worked with one another. I thought that perhaps we could discuss how the weekend went for everyone. Is there anything we could have done to be more prepared, or is there anything new you think we should start doing now?"

We all survived, hurray!

Fiona showed up, mostly because she thought it might be a good idea since she had research skills and she'd been martially useless during the last threat. In her bag, she had her copy of Marcellus Master's Guide which she'd been reviewing just in case there was a test or something.

Arthur kept us his usual pattern of being at the meeting, but not necessarily in it, near the back.

Priestly was there, hanging out with his platter of sandwiches, looking slightly uncomfortable for having missed the whole mess last weekend, and thus not been able to help out with it at all.

Claire was there and wishing she had been able to do more to help.

Turtle was there, of course, and frowning slightly, because today's meeting just made her feel a little bad that she really couldn't do anything help last week, so, yeah, there was a lot more she could have done, if she weren't a turtle.

Gabrielle looked glad to be outdoors for this today; she'd spent far more time indoors than she usually did anyway. ~~In today's continuity gag, the tiny faded marks that were left of her Bacchae bite were on the wrong side of her neck.~~

Was that the Go-Between Guy theme she was humming?

Maaaaaaaaybe.

Dinah had brought two boxes of pastries, which might be overkill but hey. "Thanks a lot guys, for everything you did. I really, really appreciate it. And I know lot of the others did too."

"Hey, roomie," Claire said, going to investigate the pastries that Dinah brought.

Katchoo wasn't here for the meeting, exactly. She was sort of hanging around, though, off to one side and mostly out of smoke-inhalation range.

Harper was beaming. She was happy to have helped in any small way.

Hoshi was wide awake and very happy to be that way.

Was researching fun? Were you asleep and scared the whole time? Could I have come up with a better OCD title for this?

"I'll tell you one thing I could have done better to prepare for helping," Turtle said wryly. "Not turning into a turtle."

"Maybe it would be a good idea to explore and map what's hiding underneath Fandom," Layla suggested. "Might be a fun activity. If we don't get eaten."

Francine gave her a look half impressed, half dubious. "No getting eaten. That's an official Support Services rule. That I just made up right now. But that does sound like a good idea."

"Might be a good multiple group coordination thing," Layla suggested. "Pair up people from support and the magical and fighting reserves and get them mapping."

Francine nodded, scribbling away into her notebook. "Yeah, it wouldn't be too brilliant for us to go down by ourselves, with some of the stuff people have seen down there."

When they ping in!

Morgana ~~remembered she had to ping here too~~ was feeling a lot better today than she had last Friday, and looked to be in a much better mood as well.

Francine was ~~finally able to ping in, LJ you ho~~ certainly less frazzled and worried-looking than she'd been last Friday, if not quite as bouncy as she used to be. Still, she had a smile and a cookie for anyone who needed either.

Katchoo was here to provide support, yes, but not to the group at large. Just for Francine.

(You know, in case anyone thought she gave that much of a crap about the rest of them.)

"So . . . this is what you do with your time, huh, Francie?"

Heeeey, that got a bounce out of her. "You came!" And a hug, even.

Katchoo would totally give as good as she got when it came to Francine hugs. "Damn straight." Oh, irony. "And you didn't even have to lift a finger."

"Shucks, there goes my plan of sneaking over and putting wheels on the bottom of your bed at night so I could just drag you here while you slept."

"I don't sleep that soundly that I wouldn't notice you rolling me down five flights of stairs," Katchoo felt obligated to point out.

"There was a plan with some sheets and a pulley and the window!" No, no there wasn't.

"Uh huh." Katchoo aimed a poke at Francine's ribs. "Lookit you, being all leader-like and take charge."

It was a good look on her.

Said the biased one.

"Not today," Francine said with a shake of her head and a wave of a cookie. Towards Katchoo. "It's Morgana's show today. I'm just the baked goods."

"Sweet and delectable? That's not nothing, Francie. Don't shortchange yourself." Katchoo reached out to snag the cookie. "Still, this is half your gig. It looks good on you."

"It could look good on you too, you know." Francine grabbed another cookie for herself. "I mean, half the time all I do is cook or write stuff down, so it's not like you have to be an expert in anything."

"What am I gonna do? Paint a group portrait?" Katchoo took a bite of the cookie and laughed through the mouthful of crumbs. "I dunno if this is my kind of thing."

"Read a book?" Francine suggested. "God knows that's what most of us were doing last weekend."

"Yeah, Francie . . . when the Fandom crisis comes around where reading Elegant Waste is the solution to the problem, you know where to find me."

Francine sighed and stuck her tongue out, a little frustrated. "Come here and eat cookies every week and prove to everybody that I'm not poisoning them?"

"Hmm." Katchoo took another nibble of the cookie and briefly considered pretending like she'd been poisoned, but one glance at the white streak in Francine's hair knocked that idea right out of her head.

. . . maybe next week.

"I could do that . . . you sure they won't suspect I'm poisoning them?"

Francine pretended to consider this. "You could wear that tee shirt Dinah got for you," she said with a grin. "Nobody would believe a bouncy cheerful hellion would poison them"

Katchoo's eyes narrowed in that way that anyone else might find threatening but for Francine didn't threaten anything more than a tickle attack at absolute worst.

"Franciiiiiiiiiiiiiiine . . ."

"Hey, at least I didn't let her get you the pink one!"

"True." See, Katchoo could concede things graciously.

. . . a moment to recover from your shock, should you need it.

"But geez, who'd ever believe I bounce?"

"You would if we threw you out the window onto a trampoline!"

"You do that, and you'll end up with whipped cream in your pillowcase."

"....That's bad?"

Katchoo snorted a laugh that sent crumbs flying. Er. Oops.

"You're completely twisted, you know that?"

"Well I wouldn't want it in my hair. But it might make a nice pre-breakfast snack!"

Hopefully no one within earshot would succumb to shock, because Katchoo actually let out a full-fledged guffaw.

"Francine! Drool-flavored whipped cream is not pre-breakfast!"

"It would be if I stuck a waffle in my pillowcase before I went to sleep!"

"You," Katchoo said, and popped the last of her cookie into her mouth, "are such a ditz."

Which sounded more like "Mrph smmsh muh dmzz." Details.

La la la it is almost the weekend!
