Chuck was in a much better mood this week compared to last week. Church made him feel better (which was scary) and now he was drinking for fun rather than out of emo. Which was always good.

Now if only the zombies would lay off the REO Speedwagon. It was weird.

"Make me another stiff one tonight, sugar," Rachel drawled with an exasperated type of sigh, feeling very glad that it was finally Friday and therefor time for cocktails, but also knowing very well that it was going to take a lot of alcohol to help reduce the massive image of her newest tenant from her brain. Forget that he probably ate enough to feed a small African country, he was probably the size of a small African country. After spots, ridges, and human blobs, she did not even want to think of what was going to be thrown at her next.

"Another bad week?" Chuck asked. Someone this hot shouldn't need so many stiff drinks.

"Oh, not a bad week, all and all," Rachel admitted, "though there are some things a girl should really not have to go through in life. I can't unsee it, but I can try hard to at least make it a little blurrier."

Chuck knew he shouldn't ask but, dammit, he couldn't help himself. He slid over the drink to Rachel just as he asked, "What did you see?"

"My newest tenant," Rachel said, shaking her head to help try to dispel the memory from coming back full force. "Don't worry, honey, if you're looking, you'll definitely see him coming. Can't miss him. Just wait until you feel the ground trembling beneath your feet. Those earthquakes we talked about? Not earthquakes, just Mr. Fred Dukes taking a stroll, believe you me."

Second verse same as the first and Alex found himself ordering a drink from Tino (beer again) and taking a seat at the bar to get his evening started off right.

Maybe later he'd go do something more meaningful but, for now, he'd just drink for awhile

At some point Chuck got bored of drinking by himself and slid down the bar to talk to other people. "Alex, right?"

"That would be me," he said, looking up. "Mr. Bartender?"

Or maybe he actually had a name. He was pretty sure they'd met once. Something with a C. Something with...a Chuck. That was it.

"Chuck the bartender," he said once he'd recalled his name.

"I prefer Chuck the owner," he said. "I'm higher up than the bartenders. I get to leave whenever I want to stop drinking."

So, this was kinda Robin's debut of the ring. She was a little nervous, but she wasn't throwing up or fainting or anything. And she even had her hand out, on the bar, while she drummed her fingernails. See? She was doing better.

However, she did need hard liquor. "Can I get a vodka martini, straight up?" she asked, not looking to see who'd be serving her tonight. In a deathmatch between Chuck and Tino for Robin's favoritism, she'd be hard-pressed to pick a winner, so it was probably better that way.

"Sure," Chuck said, even though a proper martini was made with gin and not vodka, thank you. Blair would be pissed.

Since Chuck was Chuck and noticed these kinds of things, he noticed the ring almost immediately. And, since Chuck was Chuck, he thought it to be a little on the small side. "Nice ring. New?"

"You sound so incredibly thrilled about it," Chuck noted as he got to mixing her drink. "What, did you steal it or something? Am I consorting with a known felon?"

"No. We bought it," Robin said, trying to sound more excited and less vomitty. She even smiled. "And I'm plenty thrilled. It's an, um, engagement ring."

In case he was confused. Robin was new to telling people this kind of thing.

"I am thinking something pink and fruity tonight," Lily announced as she took a seat. "Something even Marshall would look at and say, 'Hey, wait a minute there.' It's that kind of day."
