Atlas Gym | Friday Afternoon

After meeting with the NPC staff and trying to ignore the two girls who were whispering the whole time about some crazy/hot scale and where battling birds fell on that, Dimitri set to work touring the gym facilities.

The place was much more extensive than the Guardian facilities at St. Vladimir's, given the location of a gun range beneath the swimming pool. But there was equipment, mats, and dummies galore to keep Dimitri from feeling too far from his own understanding.

That was a good thing.

Both her hands were over her face. "I can't believe you know about that too." She lowered her hands and glared at him. "...did you pick my classes this time?"

And then the second bit sunk in. "How early are we talking?"

"Gonna tell me what I have to look forward to?" But his second statement totally distracted her. "Five? Are you crazy?" she asked. And hey, she was used to it, but she was still a teenager.

There was almost a smile on her face. "Or if I don't have any first period classes, we could say seven."

Totally a negotiation.

"Don't you get days off?" she asked instantly.

"Fight club?" Rose asked, raising her eyebrows. "You're not going to go?"

"Everyone on the island," she said.

She was so learning how to do the eyebrow thing. God.

"Tons of adults go. Tyler and Professor Atreides run it."

Someone was giving respect there. She wasn't entirely sure why either.

"You've gotta keep in shape too, you know."

"If we're going to be partners," Rose pointed out, keeping a straight face. "That's how it works, right?"

"It's interesting," she said, almost sounding professional. "It's not training exactly. More like those sparring classes you get once in a while to see what happens when you go full out. I think it's useful." She shrugged. "You should talk to Tyler about it."

She narrowed her eyes. "Yeah, he teaches."

"Are you going to yell at me for not calling him Mr. Durden now?" Rose asked curiously, twisting her lips. "Yeah, he taught Mythbusting. And he introduced himself as Tyler."

Rose narrowed her eyes. "No. Why?"

Because he was assuming she was incapable of staying civil to a teacher for a semester. And - it was weird that Rose had gotten used to almost being good in classes here.

She tossed her head. "Maybe you're just still tired from the time change," she snarked. "And you're seeing things."
