Streets of Fandom, Tuesday Really Early Evening

Maron felt sort of silly, but she’d spent a fair bit of the day scoping out places where she could take her vole out to tea. What did voles like, anyway? It was something to keep in mind.

Finn was totally going to laugh at her but it was for class. It was important!

If she was going to do it, after all, it was best to do it right, so that meant preparation had to be done. Checking her list of places, Maron crossed off another, and started heading for the next. One more and she’d call it a night. Maybe Turtle would have an idea...?

She turned and headed down another street.

[For the madman totally sane rly director, but totally open beforehand!]

Which was when Geoffrey spotted her.

That's a girl.

Yes? And?

We need a guy.

Crosscasting never hurt anyone.

In this instance, you risk confusing the message of your production and a serious confusion in gender politics!

...like this audience is going to notice.

They might! Sophie will.

Which was why he ended up approaching her.

"Hi!" and that was just a little manic when it came to smiles, "how're you? Ever consider acting?"

"Not particularly," he said with a little grin, "as I'm missing at least one actor for my show tonight. Which was why I was wondering if you'd ever considered acting. Since I think you would be perfect for this role."

You're HERE. That's perfect.

"Nope!" he agreed cheerfully, "but if you're interested, the part is yours. It's not very long, but it's got a very important impact on the rest of the play and I really think you'll enjoy the experience. There's nothing like being on stage..."

The play script practically jumped out at her, as if his arm was springloaded.

"You're the king, the good king, the king who dies in the beginning. Memorize your lines and come with me to the theatre. We'll get you all dressed up and put the makeup on."

He paused.

Scrunched his eyes.

"Yes," he admitted, "which is important and necessary and it's not a good thing but the bad guys who do it pay for it in the end and the day is saved."

"You are..." and he crouched down a little, as if in a kind of praise, "the rightful king. A good, fair king who falls through no fault of his own. And in the end, your murderer is brought low by those who act in the name of your sons and the kingdom is restored."

Light entered his eyes as she agreed and he started back towards the theatre immediately, nodding and chattering and beaming and talking about the other actors and muffins and careful of the one corner of the set because it has beaver damage (don't ask) and all the other things she'd need to know to act on his stage.
