Streets of Fandom, Tuesday Really Early Evening
Maron felt sort of silly, but she’d spent a fair bit of the day scoping out places where she could take her vole out to tea. What did voles like, anyway? It was something to keep in mind.
Finn was totally going to laugh at her but it was for class. It was important!
If she was going to do it, after all, it was best to do it right, so that meant preparation had to be done. Checking her list of places, Maron crossed off another, and started heading for the next. One more and she’d call it a night. Maybe Turtle would have an idea...?
She turned and headed down another street.
[For themadman totally sane rly director, but totally open beforehand!]

That's a girl.
Yes? And?
We need a guy.
Crosscasting never hurt anyone.
In this instance, you risk confusing the message of your production and a serious confusion in gender politics!
...like this audience is going to notice.
They might! Sophie will.
Which was why he ended up approaching her.
"Hi!" and that was just a little manic when it came to smiles, "how're you? Ever consider acting?"

Maron blinked, but alright, smiles were smiles and it wasn't his fault that his was... a bit unfortunate... and smiled back. "I haven't really?" she said, a bit dubiously. "Hi? Are you okay?"

You're HERE. That's perfect.

Blink.
Blinkityblink.
"Me?" she asked, casting a look around and clinging to her nice safe list of shops for dear life. "Are you sure? You don't even know me!"

Was a little different than a gymnastic routine.
And yet, the man in front of her seemed fairly harmless, and if he really did need someone... Maron was such an easy mark, seriously.
"Alright, I'm in," she said, mentally thinking that Finn would now have even more to laugh about. "What do I have to do?" What was that important but small?

"You're the king, the good king, the king who dies in the beginning. Memorize your lines and come with me to the theatre. We'll get you all dressed up and put the makeup on."

"I die?"

Scrunched his eyes.
"Yes," he admitted, "which is important and necessary and it's not a good thing but the bad guys who do it pay for it in the end and the day is saved."

She frowned at the script.
"But justice is served?" Still, she didn't want to die. "And I am a good king, right? Not a silly or incompetent one?"
Yes. It mattered. Maron didn't want to be a drooling idiot, or something. (Next time, maybe ask what role before saying yes.)

"You really love this, don't you?" Maron shrugged one shoulder, tucking her list away. "I can't refuse. I'll be the good king." It reminded her of Jeanne, of the way she'd been bright and good and then killed. "So you'd best lead the way!"

Hopefully the lines were easy!
