Our Lady of Fandom, Thursday
"I would like to talk to you," said Castiel, once the time for his sermon rolled around, "about change."
Oh, this could be interesting.
"Change is inevitable, and not just for the denizens of Earth. Heaven and Hell experience change. The Lord experiences change -- or rather, it should be said, He affects change. Change can come in many forms, be it a personal, internal change, such as a change of mind, or an external one -- which this island seems to specialize in. It can be a physical change, a paradigm shift, a tire change, a climate change -- which, if you folks don't manage to end the world biblically, is something that perhaps you'll need to be rather more concerned with.
"There are many ways to react to change as well. You can reject change, and try not to change, though I suspect you'll find that much harder than you may think. Even when the Lord rejected the change Lucifer wanted to create, when Michael cast him into the Pit, there was still change. Just not the change that Lucifer had wanted.
"The important thing to remember is that, while change may well kill you and/or cast your soul into eternal damnation among the fires of Hell, the Lord is eternal. You will all someday die, probably soon, the world will someday end, quite possibly even in your life time, but after the end of the world, the Lord will carry on, doing . . . whatever it is He does with his free time when he's not up in Heaven where he's supposed to be, stopping the angels from trying to end the world ahead of schedule."
Perhaps it was best if Castiel didn't try to comfort people.

Nope. Not an answer at all.
"I suspect I will be doing much more work on the props."

"Those places usually don't. Theatre programs, music programs... people forget about them when the budgets go through sometimes. They're good for kids, though, and adults, to be honest. I wouldn't be who I am if it wasn't for the one in my neighborhood."
And while he said it mildly, there would always be the hints of something more, something darker, whenever he mentioned the community center.

"Just doing my part. I'm part of the community, after all. I should contribute to the fine arts."
Re: Talk to Castiel
Like the global community. Working to avert the apocalypse.
Yeeeees.
Re: Talk to Castiel
"Well, probably not."

"You, uh, have kind of a unique take on things. It can be kind of confusing for those of us who aren't, uh, used to it."

"It's good, though. You talking to people."

He was curious, really, considering some of the things he'd seen and heard from the angel. It wasn't skepticism, though.

"I suppose I'm attempting to prepare them for the End Times."

"That depends on how you're preparing them. If it's like earlier, you might want to rethink your approach.
"Sometimes, how you say something is just as important as what you say, you get me?"
Re: Talk to Castiel
He was a little confused by that one. He wasn't exactly known for his grasp of the subtleties of communication.
Re: Talk to Castiel
"The thing is," he said, looking almost like he was briefing a football player on the next play, "is your strategy. Sometimes, telling them exactly what's going to happen is the worst way to prepare someone for something."
