The beach, Thursday afternoon
Not enough glee. In the world. Dinah got to the beach early for her lesson, and was already practicing making water-whips after her warm-up stretches. Much better day than yesterday! Yay!

Because Dinah had been the quiet, introspective one recently. Right.

hotinstructive. "Going on the trip next week?"no subject
Close enough."I'm sorry you missed it too. I got to meet your Uncle Daemon, though. And Morton." Dinah reached for her hand to swing, and grinned. "And definitely. Tony and I decided to take our chances with new roommates this time. We'll see who I get stuck with. It might make the trip totally awful. Or way more fun. I mean, I got lucky to have you in my cabin, right?"no subject
It was a good thing Karla
's munhad been too sick to get up on Sunday and so missed Morton and Emma waking up on the roof together."You're braver than I am," she continued, merrily swinging away "Emma and I agreed to be roommates again. I mean, we'll be sharing a cabin with six other people, so there will be plenty of chances to get to know folks that way--without discovering they snore, or take stuff without asking, or play really horrible music until the wee hours of the night."

And through their hands she sent, I have a date! Date date date! Jak didn't get scared away!

*Date?!?!?* It was amazing how well squeeing came across psychic threads. *Telltelltelltell!*

"Hopefully it'll be someone nice, though. And there'll be six other people in the cabin in they're not," Dinah added cheerfully.
In contrast to the inner squee of Cafe Fina tomorrow! Helena and Barbara didn't intimidate him too much! Oh my god I have to find something to wear!

"That's always true. And, who knows? Maybe you'll end up in our cabin anyway. Which would just be awesome in and of itself."
*Umm...umm...* A bit of panic on Karla's end. *I don't have to help with that, right? I'm not good at that stuff. I can tell you if you look pretty--of course you'll be pretty, you're always pretty--but I don't know anything about clothing or make-up!* She'd seen enough teevee to know that before a big date, female friends went shopping and picked out new clothes, but she was still REALLY BAD at that.

"It would! Although the whole trip looks like a nature walk... Which I guess could be nice and relaxing?"
No, no. It's okay! Maybe I'll just go to Pixie Dust, find something new? Dinah's squee was now tempered by consideration, but still there. It was so cute how he asked me out! Cue mental image of Jak. Leaning. Trying to look nonchalant. I sound crazy. Calming down. Really! Maybe you can help with the jewelry? And aloud, "You will tell me if I look too goofy, though, right?" Because yeah, it would suck to go on a nice date and look like she was trying too hard. Arrgh.

*You don't sound crazy,* she sent with a burst of amusement, *You sound happy. Excited. Which you should be. And of course I'll help! I'm just not sure how helpful I'll be. But I'll be there, even if I just provide wine and chocolate for the girls who are being helpful.*

Thank you, Dinah sent back. It's silly. But it's only the third or so real date I've had since I got here, and a couple of those really didn't work out. And yeah, not picturing Jack turning into Jill-- Karla would probably have real issues with that. So yeah. I hope this one goes well.

Look, she had to ask.

"Of course," Azula said. It was like the arrogant smirk and voice was permanent. "I've had worse. The match held my interest."
Translation: Helena was better than she expected. Which was nice. It's been a while since she's had a real good fight. The one with Jaina was also good.

"I've been practicing," Dinah almost chirped. "Look!"
A slender strand of water was pulled from the ocean, hung suspended, then whipped sideways. "Still a bit slow. But my control's getting better."

"A useful skill, knowing what this man can do you should learn to defend against it. Drowning is not a pleasant feeling."

It was something that's been bothering Azula for some time now. From what she's observed this world wasn't in a constant state of war there was no need for the practice.
