Homecoming Weekend Brunch, Sunday Morning in the Park

There hadn't been too much trouble arranging the brunch in the park. Jennifer had enlisted the help of various people, and even got people like that scary teacher Mr. Dukes to help pitch in.

There was a harvest theme in the tent, with the tablecloths and napkins all in reds, yellows and oranges. There were centerpieces on the tables of cornucopias with edible fruits! There was also, of course, every kind of brunch food imaginable set up at the buffet table. There were even some food items there that didn't even qualify as brunch. And for some reason, there were biscuits baked in the shape of fish.

Jennifer found them oddly tasty.

[ooc: OCD first, or Jen will Hulk out and rip you apart like Vision. OCD Up! Also, post and OCD shamelessly lifted/altered from [livejournal.com profile] yourwhiteknight's PW brunch last year. Post going up now in case I accidentally sleep in. A second post'll go up if needed.]

"Both. Either," she admitted. "If I'd had the chance, I would have signed her up for it, but I didn't."

"Still, for all Karla is clueless about some things, she's not completely innocent. With a little encouragement, I'm sure she'll be breaking hearts in no time."

"Does she want to date here?" Jack asked idly. He adored Karla, but she wasn't right for him. "Or will she have to wait to break hearts after she's back in her home?"
icecoldfrost: (everything is illuminated)

"What does dating have to do with anything?" Emma asked, giving him a wry sideways glance. "I doubt she's looking for anything deep and meaningful, no, but they say practice makes perfect."

She wasn't going to tell Jack what she knew of Karla's world and sex. It was Karla's business, and it would be tacky to start talking sexual politics at a brunch.

"Well," Jack said, "I doubt she'd be lacking in people to practice with, if she were so inclined."

"Should I tell her you're volunteering?" she teased, poking at his ribs. "How very shocking, Jack."

Jack laughed, elbowing her back. "I'm not, no. She could ask your friend Alex."

Emma made a face. "They'd kill each other," she complained. "And then where would I get my entertainment?"
bitten_notshy: ([neg] i really don't think so)

"... so there's one match, off the books," Jack said. "Of course we must keep all the entertaining people."

"Well, us entertaining people are the only ones worth knowing," Emma sighed, shaking her head. "Otherwise the world would be dreadfully boring."

"Do the boring people even have boring thoughts?" Jack asked, smirking just a little. "It can't really be all about weather and physical ailments."
icecoldfrost: (don't need telepathy to know you're dumb)

"And the food they ate, and what they have to get at the store," she complained, wrinkling her nose. "Sadly, most people are hideously boring."

"Lucky for me, our school has a higher-than-usual ratio of interesting to dull, or I'd be forced to make some more fun on my own."

"Would the school still be standing if you did that?" His hand went, lightly, to her waist.
icecoldfrost: (Emma is up to no good)

"Possibly not," she admitted, leaning into his touch just slightly. "But wouldn't it be fun to find out?"

"Absolutely. Let me know if there's ever anything I can do."

"Perhaps you can help me come up with an idea or two how to go about it." Somehow, Emma didn't doubt Jack could help her come up with something brilliant. "Coffee sometime this week?"

Emma gave him a slow smile. "I do think it just got booked," she drawled. "I have Skywalker's class on Ethics first period, but I'm free after that."
