Harper was going through some of the vintage costumes she'd found in back and set them on on mannequins. There were just so many cool ideas that she wondered if she wanted to stick with the costume she'd already picked out.

You know you want her help picking out a costume.

Castiel was looking for a Halloween costume. He'd been told it was traditional.

"25% of what off?"

Harper had been having so much fun dressing mannequins in costumes that she hadn't paid much attention to her hastily-written sign. "25% off the ticket price, of course," she said, looking over her shoulder at the store window. Frowning, she put down the mannequin arm she was holding and grabbed a marker.

Castiel nodded. "Ah. I see." That was right, he had to pay for things, didn't he? "I'm looking for a Halloween costume."

"And you came to the right place! Not only do we have a Halloween special, but we have everyday low prices on all of our gently used clothing," said Harper. "Did you know already what you want wear for Halloween?"

"No," Castiel said. "I was told to simply find the opposite of what I usually wear." He gestured to his suit and trenchcoat. "Without being . . . naked."

This guy was a genius, he was.

"Well, naked could work as a costume, though I don't think the mayor or the sheriff would find it amusing," said Harper, taking a good look at Castiel and trying not to imagine him naked, really. "But if you want something that's completely opposite of what you've got, I'd go with a bit of color." She gestured to a couple of mannequins in clown (http://www.costumesinc.com/p12051/Bubbles-the-Clown-Costumes-Adult-Clown-Costume.html) costumes (http://www.costumesinc.com/p12030/Jingles-the-Super-Clown-Costume-Adult-Clown-Costume.html).

Castiel looked over the costumes.

They were sort of . . . terrifying . . . weren't they.

"Hm. Perhaps something more . . . traditional?"

Harper would never really understand what was wrong with clowns. They were bright and colorful and made people laugh, just like her.

"Well, if you want something a little different, you can't go wrong with pirates (http://www.buypiratecostumes.com/authentic_pirate_costume.html)," said Harper, moving onto the next mannequin.

"That might perhaps give the wrong impression. I'm the leader of the church, you see."

He couldn't go around dressed like a criminal, right? Well, technically he could . . . but it wouldn't be proper. Or something.

"Oh! In that case, I have something that would be perfect. I found it half an hour ago and didn't even have a chance to put it out yet," said Harper, grabbing a box from behind the desk. She opened it and started pulling out a devil (http://www.devilcostumes.com/deluxe-devil-lord-costume.html) costume. "This one comes with a lot of accessories, too. There's a pitchfork and a mask that go with it, or you could wear horns instead of the mask. The only thing it doesn't include is a shirt, but we could easily find a nice used dress shirt to go with it."

The look Castiel gave the costume was mildly horrified. "Lucifer doesn't look anything like that," he said, perhaps a little bit too firmly. "Not even remotely."

"Oh?" said Harper, taking a closer look at the picture on the box. "Maybe he wears leather pants instead of jeans? It would look pretty cool with the cloak."

"I admit, I'm not certain what he wears in Hell." Castiel honestly hadn't had time to check, last time he was there. "But otherwise, he is in appearance as any other angel. It's . . . hard to describe to humans. But it has very little to do with goats."

"So you've met the guy?" asked Harper, giving Castiel an odd look. Okay, sometimes she was a little slow, but this guy was starting to sound a little weird.

"He's my brother."

. . . Wait, did that make him Raven and Fiona's uncle?

"Ooookay," said Harper slowly. "Well, then, I think I have the perfect costume for you. It's certainly different than what you have on, and it's pretty simple. Castiel tilted his head, examining the costume for a long moment.

". . . but how can I pass out candy if my hands are tied?"

"You get a big bucket and fill it with candy before you get into the straight jacket," explained Harper. "Then kids can just take the candy and you won't have to actually hand it out."

"That does not sound very traditional."

This wasn't going well at all, was it.

"Why do you say that this costume would work so well for me?"

Now that was a tough one to answer, since Harper figured that Ben wouldn't want her telling a potential customer that he was crazy.

"I felt that this one would contain your unique essence," she finally replied. "But if traditional is what you're looking for, I could get you a classic ghost costume." It was classic in the sense that it was an old white sheet with two eye holes cut out.

"It takes rather more than cloth to contain my essense," Castiel noted. "Only very unique individuals are capable."

Yeah, he had no idea that that might come off as being super-dirty.

"Perhaps I'll have to think on this, and come back."

Okay, now the guy was talking dirty to her. Never mind that earlier in the conversation, she had been trying to picture him naked. This was probably not a sale that she needed to make.

"Good luck! You might find some other options at some of the other stores in town, since we only carried used stuff," she said.

Castiel nodded to her. "Thank you. You've been very helpful."

She had, at least, eliminated several possibilities.

"Perhaps I'll find something suitable at the church itself."

Because you don't trust Harper's taste.

Not that Francine didn't trust Harper's taste? She'd just seen Harper's taste. So it wasn't a matter of trust. Plus she kind of wanted to look around at some of the vintage clothing by herself and see if she'd get inspired. Preferably by something that didn't look like it came from 'Dite's.

She almost walked right past the top hat perched on the plastic pumpkin basket, but as fate and Francine's spazziness would have it, she knocked the thing off with her elbow. Then picked it up, turned it around in her hands, and grinned.

The world can't end before Halloween.
