Caritas [Tuesday evening]

Tonight when Robin came in, she was humming. Stupid, stupid song had been stuck in her head all day -- at least in part because she had heard it everywhere.

So, she was absentmindedly making up dirty lyrics to fill in, since she could only remember the tune, anyway.

After their amazing play performance tonight, it seemed fitting to celebrate. Sam was proud of how well everyone had done, but right now, the only person he wanted to celebrate with was Dinah.

"It's kind of sad to think that we only have one more performance," he said when he sat down. "We definitely need to do the next play too."

"It'll be a history, if Geoffrey goes by the same pattern as usual," Dinah said, sitting down next to him as close as possible. Much nicer here than out in the main bar! Cozy. "Whiiiich could be a lot of fun, with swords!" She made a little sword move with the sword swizzle stick from her champagne cocktail. "We could play opposite each other again! Maybe married!"

Ooo, maybe that was jumping the gun?

It felt silly to blush, but Sam couldn't help himself considering how awesome that sounded. "That would be really fun," he said. "It's easy to act when you've got someone you work well with."

"Isn't it?" Dinah leaned her chin on her palm and sighed at him, blinking slowly. "I'm so glad you decided you liked acting. It wouldn't be the same without you, Sam." She had no idea why she was blushing. Just kind of warm in here, wasn't it? Siiiigh. "You could be a king. Or a general! Or Marc Antony! That would be awesome, wouldn't it? Do you think Geoffrey would let me be Cleopatra if I wore a wig?"

Siiiigh.

"If you wanted to be Cleopatra, then he'd better let you whether he likes it or not," Sam insisted. "You'd be great!"

"You are so sweet," Dinah said, totally meaning it. "I think you'd be pretty awesome as Antony. All orating and striding around and... stuff." Gulp. Oh look, more cocktail, wheeee! That helps. So much. Especially when her throat's all dry.

"Hey, I'm just telling the truth," Sam insisted, though he looked very happy at being called sweet. "I'm sure we could fit everyone else in around us too. But you should definitely get to be the star."

Dinah bumped her shoulder against his, turning bright neon pink. "Awwwwww. Thanks. I'd really like that." She ducked her head and said, "But we still have Thursday, and being sweethearts until then, to look forward to."

Fake sweethearts. But still!

"It'll be our best performance yet, I just know it," Sam said. He inched a little closer to her with all the nonchalance he had which, given his size, wasn't much at all. "Tonight felt really natural. It was like we connected, you know?"

"I know! It wasn't just me?" Dinah gave him a shining look and leaned against him, marveling. "You felt it too! It was like our timing was perfect, and the blocking was perfect, and.. just... perfect."

"You were perfect," Sam said, grinning. "So, it was easy to act with you. It felt...I don't know, right."

"Exactly," Dinah said softly, tilting her head on his shoulder and sighing. Somehow Thursday seemed so far away! "We don't need the practice, but... we could get ready tomorrow, too?"

Somehow, Sam managed to light up even more. "Tomorrow? I mean, a little more practice certainly couldn't hurt."

"Perfect!" Dinah held up her drink to clink with his. "To practicing!"
