The Gig, Tuesday [12/15]

Today was Kris's first official day working at the Gig. Though it wasn't the same as racing horses, she was grateful for the steady paycheck and still a little surprised Dani offered. Already, Kris knew the names of all the horses. She was really beginning to think she could make a new start here.

Now, if only she could get Feliz Navidad out of her head...

Tully showed up to check on Mr. Twain and see if he was up for a ride today. Oh look, a new person.

Kris, who was currently feeding Duke some apples, peered over at the guy who approached. "Morning. Can I help you?"

"Oh I'm just checking on my horse." Tully said. Mr. Twain wickered at her in greeting. "Have you two met yet?"

"I met all the horses in the stables," Kris replied. She smiled at Mr. Twain. "He's a nice horse."

"Yeah. I think horses understand me better than any human does," Kris said. "So it's easy to be around them."

"I know what you mean," Kris replied. "I don't think I would have gotten through some hard times without a horse I knew once."

She wondered if she'd ever get to see Wildfire again, but she was keeping that part to herself.

Okay if they were gonna get all mushy, Mr. Twain was gonna need some treats to go with it. He nudged Tully's shoulder.

With a laugh, he pulled a bag of apple slices from his coat pocket. "Alright you glutton here you go." He turned to Kris. "How long you been in town?"

"Almost a week," Kris replied. "Since I've now got a job and an apartment, I think I'll be sticking around for awhile. You been here long?"
