Luke's Diner, December 28 (Monday)
The Yule Log channel wasn't showing any more. Ordinarily Lacey would be sad about that, but Not This Year. Oh, no. This year, she'd gone back to Dog River for Christmas -- actually intending to go to Dog River, rather than ending up back in Dog River after a disastrous attempt to fly to Toronto that somehow took her from Saskatchewan to Nova Scotia to British Columbia and back by way of Every. Single. Province. Ever -- and gotten an iPod Touch from Brent and Hank as a Christmas gift.
And they'd preloaded it with the Yule Log app.
So here she was back in Fandom, and it was like having Christmas in her pocket year round, as long as she remembered to keep the battery charged.
It also meant the kitchen staff had a much easier time of it getting away with antics in the kitchen . . . which would explain the miniature marshmallow mountain range taking shape if you peered through the service window. Lacey didn't notice.
Luke's is open, and that Yule Log is virtually crackling away. Yes, still. It'll be virtually warm to go with that marshmallow ski resort back there.

Re: Talk to Lacey
"I can't believe I forgot how cold it was up here."
Re: Talk to Lacey
Lacey, using Celsius temperatures might not be helping much.
Re: Talk to Lacey
"No, I just came from swimsuit weather. And unless you're one of those polar bear people, this ain't it."
Re: Talk to Lacey
"Oh, I don't know. If we had beaches in Dog River, this would be perfect beach weather. Yeah, we'd just head right on down there in our swimsuits and snow goggles and lounge out in the drifts and . . . catch some sledding waves."
Wanda Dollard was probably sighing exasperatedly right now.
Re: Talk to Lacey
"Really? Not even wet suits?"
Re: Talk to Lacey
"Well, it is Saskatchewan," Lacey pointed out, and ordinarily she'd be aghast at herself for not even having the courtesy to look up but that Yule Log was so pretty and she'd missed it so. "We don't really need them much there."
Possibly because of the landlocked-ness of it. It helps if you say these things, Lacey.
Stupid unhelpful Yule Log.
Re: Talk to Lacey
He was just proud for knowing that it was in fact a place on Earth, and in Canada.
"How do you not get hypothermia?"
And what the hell was she staring at?
Re: Talk to Lacey
. . . not that Lacey could ever, ever articulate why exactly that thing had fascinated her for her entire life. It just did, okay? Speaking of things Lacey couldn't articulate, her knowledge of United States geography was better than Hank or Brent's in that she could tell you that you couldn't drive from Las Vegas to Boston in a day, but it wasn't that great.
"Hypothermia, what? A little thing like that?" She waved a hand. "We just walk it off."
Just before he'd given her a ride to the airport (Lacey had issues with portals), Brent had taken time out to smartmouth at a tourist. It had looked like fun.
Dog River's idea of fun was . . . special.

Re: Talk to Lacey
Yes, because losing limbs to cold would be so much better, Lacey.
