Ching Tai, Saturday Night

So Elena had planned on taking Jacob out drinking, to celebrate his first week of intact-sanity in Fandom, but he'd suddenly changed his mind once they got near Caritas. Maybe it had bad mojo or something.

Ching Tai seemed like a good back-up.

"Well, there goes my clever plan to get you drunk and take advantage of you," she teased, as they were seated.

"You can always try to spike my food with sake," he suggested. Not that he'd planned on letting her get him drunk. His temper was worrying without the buzz of alcohol and he wouldn't have needed any of it in that bar. It reeked of vampires.

He shook his head. "Besides, we need to eat something beside peanuts."

"Good bars usually have pretzels, too," she grinned. "I think some bars have sandwiches, but I don't like eating at bars. It just seems wrong."

You were at the bar to get hammered: sandwiches felt like a strange sort of afterthought tacked on. And, really, who wanted their bartender to cook?

"I guess that just leaves me with my feminine wiles," she said with a mock-dramatic sigh.

"Are you sure you're going to manage?" Jacob asked, tongue-in-cheek. He so deserved to get kicked for that, but she couldn't expect him to pass up on such an opportunity, did she?

"Oh, very funny," she laughed. "Just for that, I'm going to say rude things about you to the waitress, and claim I was ordering dessert."

There were advantages to knowing (very little) Wutaian.

"What's the waitress done to you?" he asked, looking very innocent. "You don't want her to spit in our food, do you?"

"Nothing," she said loftily. "I'm going to tell the waitress that you're a smug guy who totally doesn't want to get laid, and ask if she thinks that haircut is working for you. I'll let you know what she says. Maybe."

Jacob's hand went up to his hair unconsciously and he was looking rather perplexed. "What's wrong with my hair? And I'm not smug and I didn't say anything about that!"

Way to get him flailing.

"I didn't say anything was wrong with your hair," she countered easily. He was adorable when he flailed. She would have to tell him that, once he stopped flailing. It would probably make him start again ...

She clucked her tongue in mock-sympathy. "See what's become of us? This is why you never mock a girl's feminine wiles."

"Hey, you mention your wiles like that and you're asking to be mocked," he told her. He smoothed his hair down, not that there was much to smooth. It definitely was a lot more maintainable than his longer hair had been.

"I was just giving you fair warning," she teased. "I mean, I don't want to bust my moves out on a nice, sweet, innocent sort of guy. That could make you start flailing again."

"I did not flail," he protested. Maybe just a little. Shut up, wolves didn't flail. "And who says I'm nice, sweet and innocent? I could be loads of trouble."

"Could you?" Elena asked, raising an eyebrow appreciatively. "All right, you've got my attention. What's your particular brand of mayhem, then?"

He wondered if people would be as accepting of werewolves as they were of the rest of the crazy the island seemed to be made of. Not that he was going to find out, stupid orders.

So he simply blurted out the first extreme thing he could think of that they did on the rez. "Ever gone cliff diving?"

Raven appeared with Andy near the door to Ching Tai in a burst of black smoke. The smoke quickly vanished, leaving no trace of it in seconds.

"You are all right?" Raven asked. "Sometimes people are unsettled when they travel that way for the first time."

"I'm fine. I'm great!" Andy reassured her quickly. "That was... Wow."

"That is something I am able to do with my Soul-Self," Raven said shyly. "I can send it from me, or I can use it to teleport myself or others with me."

"That's so cool," Andy enthused. "And it's gotta save a lot on bus tickets."

"And it is faster and more comfortable than flying," Raven said with a smile. "And you do not have to deal with lines."

"Well I can usually get through lines by just asking people if I can go ahead of them, but that's a lot cooler." He looked at the door to the restaurant. "Shall we go inside?"

"Of course," Raven said, turning toward the door as well.

Andy held the door open for her and then followed in behind her. "Have you been here before?"

Raven shook her head. "I have not," she said. "I have had some of its food that people have brought to the dorms, however."

"Me either. I was going to come here to get takeout once when I had the munchies but I had Gus with me at the time and I didn't think they'd take kindly to him tagging along."
