The Perk, Tuesday Evening

After a handwavey morning spent jogging around the island with Bruce, Jean was so very thrilled to meet him up for coffee. It was totally a date. And he wasn't even going to try and grope her!

Probably.

Look, it happened a lot in Fandom.

She ordered the least coffee-like coffee on the menu and sipped it while thinking herself oh so mature to be drinking coffee in general.

Yeah.

The fact that Bruce was mentally cursing the fact that he had never had an opportunity to figure out how to defend himself against telepaths didn't show on his face. The only positive thing here was that either Jean was respectful enough not to read people's minds or she had the world's best poker face, and he was reasonably sure it wasn't the second one.

"So you have a group of teenagers with powers and you're extremely dedicated to training," Bruce mused. "Are you training to be a superhero?"

"I've met him a couple times," Bruce said. He had powers too, then. Bruce wasn't going to push to find out what he could do. That would be too pushy considering how much Jean was sharing right now. "I wouldn't have expected him to be a..." Bruce paused deliberately. "... person who might help those in need. I have a feeling I'll be surprised like that a few more times before I get the hang of it."
