The Perk, Tuesday Evening

After a handwavey morning spent jogging around the island with Bruce, Jean was so very thrilled to meet him up for coffee. It was totally a date. And he wasn't even going to try and grope her!

Probably.

Look, it happened a lot in Fandom.

She ordered the least coffee-like coffee on the menu and sipped it while thinking herself oh so mature to be drinking coffee in general.

Yeah.

[[Expecting the Goddamn Batman, but open before!]]

Bruce, meanwhile, ordered the most coffee-like coffee. That is to say, coffee. "Sorry about not letting you know about the coffee earlier. I called on Saturday, but there was something strange happening with the phone lines."

"I think I have to ask now. What kind of messages?" Bruce asked.

"Let me guess. You hadn't done either," Bruce said.

"Really?" Bruce asked. "I find that surprising."

"I would have figured guys would be lining up," Bruce said. "I suppose they may be intimidated by running in freezing weather, though."

"What if there's a blizzard?" Bruce asked.

"The blizzard is still workable if you know you way around skis," Bruce said. "But that's probably more dedication than sane people would have."

Which is why Bruce had trained like that before.

"Not if you prepare correctly," Bruce said. He paused. "But I think we've gotten off the subject. You don't like clowns?"

Yes, he was paying attention in Ethics.

"I guess I can understand that," Bruce said. "I do have to wonder what would drive a person to be a clown. Besides falling into a vat of chemicals and yes, I did bring it up entirely for a Joker reference. Booyah."

Ignore my complete failure at HTML.

"Maybe. But now that I know clowns freak you out, is there anything else I should know about you?" Bruce asked.

DO IT OR I'LL POINT OUT THAT JEAN DIDN'T EVEN COME CLOSE TO ADDRESSING BRUCE'S QUESTION.

"Gotham City. You probably haven't heard of it," Bruce said. "Most people here haven't."

BRUCE IS THE BEST AT CRAMMING THINGS IN HIS CRAM HOLE.

"It's one of the biggest cities in my world," Bruce said. "But it doesn't seem to exist on most Earths. I don't understand it."

YOUR FACE IS WHAT SHE SAID.

"Really?" Bruce asked. "Gotham's not far from New York, either. How big is Bayville?"
